Art with Heart – holidays!

You hello everyone!! i am here today to show you my creations for the Art with Heart Challenge this month; Hauntings and Holidays

art-with-heart-october-hauntings-and-holidays-sizzix-prize-packso i was lucky enough to get the Graphic45 Christmas Carol collection and holy moly i have to tell you i was challenged!!

if you follow me at all you know i absolutely LOVE the smell and look of their papers but am terrified and so challenged on what i am to do with them. i asked my fellow design team members and their suggestion ; which I followed,  was ‘fussy cutting’

so i knew where to start…..

I am so not a fussy cutter but oh am I glad I did it!! I had the absolute best time layering and creating this beautiful piece of paper into a 3D creation…. now what to do with it.. and how do I incorporate that into my Eileen Hull challenge….Graphic45 collage

I tried to figure out what I could do to give justice to this beautiful line of paper along with mixing it up and creating with Eileen’s dies….

the first thing I thought of was an ATB….but one ATB wasn’t going to cut it..  do I create a few of them and puzzle piece this together????

i was thinking…

so I dug through my supplies and I found a Graphic45 8×8 Matchbook box that I had purchased a while back and figured you know what..  i bet those little ATB’s should fit in here just fine…..

so off I was creating and measuring. first i  glued the Graphic45 paper to the mat board and because i was using the mini ATB i wanted to measure and cut strips.

after running them through the vagabond (i did this 50 times as i was creating 25 containers) i applied wonder tape to both ends of one and one end of the other to create the mini boxes

creating mini advent with Graphic45i  managed to fit all 25 of those little boxes into the Matchbook box (with a little squeeze here and there)  and as I was doing so it hit me exactly what I was going to do with this!! so that is when i added the little bits and pieces of idea-ology to the tops and  a bit of ribbon and look what was created!advent

an advent calendar for ME!!! how much fun is that!!

I am in love with this piece and can’t wait to have it filled for me. I don’t get to enjoy bought calendars as they for the most part are either cheap chocolate or contain gluten…  so this is PERFECT!!

Oh wow Diana, this is superb!! It must have taken you an age to each of those beautiful little ATB’s but worth every minute to end up with a stunning piece like this – I would definitely have this out on display at Christmas, so much better than crackers, you could put little treats in the boxes…. I just love the top of the box too – fantastic work. Going back for another look now…. Hugs, Anne xx
