mixed media challenge #41 – colour

hello everyone!!

can you believe yet another month has gone by and we are presenting you with yet a new challenge at Mixed Media Monthly Challenge … this one is all about colour

No automatic alt text available.

as well, we have partnered up with Rubber  Dance Stamps.

Original original new banner  Rubber Dance offers a unique line of Red Rubber Stamps, UN-mounted, without cling cushion!. they are lovingly made in Norway and they are shipped world wide.

now for my project i was sent the quirky Funny Fungi!!! (http://www NULL.rubberdance NULL.com/funny-fungi)

here is what i created and how i created it!

i started out using some paint on a 8″ round Gel Press reusable gel printing plate. i just dabbed paints here and there

and using my brayer, spread the paint until i had  covered the circle and then laid my sheet of paper over, pressed and pulled. i also mixed some paints to the side on my craft sheet, brayered and pull…and just kept adding until i was satisfied.

i then added in some stencils and i am sorry to say but by this point i was so lost in the process i forgot to take pictures but here is where i was after the first couple of stencils on a second sheet i created at the same time

so once i had created my back ground circle it was time to focus on my stamp! i dug out some distress markers and just coloured

once i was finished coloured i had a bright idea so out came some more makers, my ruler and archival ink

i cut the little mushroom out from the center of the stamp and then stamped and coloured round the whole circle!

as i was creating my piece i couldn’t help but think how we are all so very different in this world; whether we are people, flowers, trees or mushrooms… we are all our own kind of beauty so that is where my quote came from that i printed out and added to my page

that is it for me for today! do drop on over to the Mixed Media Monthly Challenge (https://mixedmediamc NULL.blogspot NULL.com/) page to see what my fellow teamies have come up with and play along!

until next time

hello everyone!

Today I am back on the The Crafter’s Workshop blog (http://www NULL.thecraftersworkshop NULL.com)  sharing with you this art journal page.  it is by far one of my favourite art journal pages I have created in a long time.

Click here (http://www NULL.thecraftersworkshop NULL.com/blog/2017/09/art-journal-page-unicorn/) to jump on over to their blog for the full tutorial on how i created this page.  I absolutely love how it turned out so much so it has inspired me for my next page already.  i will be back on the 22nd of September to offer you more inspiration using The Crafter’s Workshop stencils and paints!

in the meantime you can check in regularly with me on my Facebook page (https://www NULL.facebook NULL.com/missusgmoments/) or you can check out my  Instagram (https://www NULL.instagram NULL.com/dianahetherington/)  feed to see what else i am up to during the month!

mixed media monthly challenge #40 – vintage

hello everyone!

can you believe it is September 1st!!! holy moly that was a fast summer wasn’t it… let’s hope for some beautiful temperatures to take us into the fall season!

today i am here to share with my creation for this months Mixed Media Monthly challenge #40 – vintage

Please note though I  have received some of the products from Sizzix, The Crafter’s Workshop and Impression Obsession that I have used on this project, my opinions of the products are solely my own.

so before i go into the details of how i created this vintage art journal page i want to share a couple of things with you….. first off take a look at who our sponsor is this month!!!

No automatic alt text available. (https://scontent NULL.fykz1-1 NULL.fna NULL.fbcdn NULL.net/v/t1 NULL.0-9/20264527_10209571695357231_1784606768953479936_n NULL.jpg?oh=08184221ff54b35d067458cee54d3a1b&oe=5A148905)
yes!! it is The Funkie Junkie (https://scontent NULL.fykz1-1 NULL.fna NULL.fbcdn NULL.net/v/t1 NULL.0-9/20264527_10209571695357231_1784606768953479936_n NULL.jpg?oh=08184221ff54b35d067458cee54d3a1b&oe=5A148905).. the place where you can get those much desired and sought after supplies!
and the second thing i wanted to share is this months image..  remember to add it to your post  if you want the chance to win our sponsor’s prize! You can read all about it HERE (https://mixedmediamc NULL.blogspot NULL.ca/2017/09/mixed-media-monthly-challenge-40-vintage NULL.html)

okay now that those details are over let’s get into how i created my page

i first started by layering some  texture paste through the stencil and let it dry.

i then rubbed some  distress ink directly onto the paste and then blending it with the blending tool. i repeated this throughout the whole page

then removing the cover of the ink spray i flicked some from the end of the straw thingmajig!

i added some more water and watched the magic begin. loving the effect on this texture paste !!!

once my page was completely dry i added some modeling paste through the butterfly collage stencil

so while my paste was drying i cut some butterflies out of a vintage book

and applied some  distress ink to them. i wasn’t sure yet which one i was going to use so did a few and figure i would add the extras to my diecut folders

i then decided to use this beauty of a quote direct to my page and how did i do that and get such a nice crisp image you ask??

why by using the stamp platform of course !! i love that i can put my art journal pages right in there and stamp!!!!

i then sewed around the outside of my page, added a few bits of torn vintage paper and for the final step i added some crackle glaze to bits of the page for the aged effect

and once again here you have it… my finished vintage art journal page for the Mixed Media Monthly Challenge #40!!!

don’t forget to play along with us and add your project HERE!! we love seeing what you create and we also love hearing what you think of our projects!
