Eileen Hull trinket box valentine – here is the key to my heart

hello everyone!

today i am here to show you a little project i created for a special someone for valentines

so i once again used the Trinket Box, one of my favourite Eileen Hull dies, to create this project
i started out by cutting my pieces out of black mat board. i then embossed the front and back covers using one of Eileens folders. once that was done, using my finger i applied some metallic paint to the raised bits.   it was then time to assemble the whole thing.

on the inside of the front cover i attached the hearts sheet with a red felt backing. i then glued the whole thing together using some foam tape.

i then assembled the box and attached ‘lock’ that i had painted with metallic paint

then it was just a matter of layering things to the top. i had used some oxide inks to paint the flowers and the ‘girls’, and added some chit chat stickers.

for the final touch i added a brad butterfly from Emerald Creek to the final flower.

but wait a minute…. look what happens when you pull on the ‘key lock’

yes that’s right.. it is actually a little drawer to hold a special note and  the key to my heart!

SOCKS!!! i love love love socks!!!!

well that’s it for today from me!! thanks for stopping by

until next time my friends,

diana

be a somebody to everybody

hello everyone!

i am so excited to share today’s post. it is one of those projects that one starts to create and it just keeps building and building until it ends exactly where you want it too!!

Please note that although i have received some of the products used to create this project from some great companies, the opinions I share are solely my own.

so during Creativation this year i feel in love with the oxide on gloss paper technique from Tim Holtz and made a few pages with it but alas ran out of paper and in the meantime remembered i had some black  gloss paper so thought maybe that would work

oh how i loved where this was going.. so while this piece was drying i thought i would try a whole page and started layering my colours

but i discovered something…. this turns out to be not the same kind of gloss paper as the white.. so what to do… i figured i needed a layer between my oxides and the ‘outside’ to preserve the layer so i searched my stash and found an old bottle of goosebumps. i spread that out over my entire page and ended up smearing my colours more than i had intended but you know what… it turn out wonderful so i just needed to decide how i was going to do the next step.

so i went back to my original piece of black gloss paper as well as a piece of heavy white yardstick and started applying some modelling paste through my stencil in various colours

once it was all dry i then fuzzy cut out the pieces and started the process of layering the bits together

i loved how these pieces all look together.. now was time to lay them onto the background!!

to finish i found a quote that i thought was perfect. to me it looks like the mermaid is talking to the jellyfish so…..

i then just used my black marker and outlined most of my page, added some bits of modeling paste to the page and then called it done

and now here are a few close ups!

Mixed Media Monthly Challenge #45

today i am sharing with you a page i have created for Challenge #45- photo inspiration (https://mixedmediamc NULL.blogspot NULL.ca/2018/02/mixed-media-monthly-february-challenge NULL.html) challenge for Mixed Media Monthly Challenge.

Please note that although i have received some of the products used to create this project from some great companies, the opinions I share are solely my own.

This month our theme is:
(Create a mixed media project based on your interpretation of our challenge photo inspiration.)
***please remember to add this graphic to your blog post***

The random draw winner of our challenge
will receive a $25 gift card to Topflight Stamps (https://topflightstamps NULL.com/)!

(https://topflightstamps NULL.com/)

so for my project i thought i would get out my Gel Press and some TCW paints and just play..

and that is exactly what i did… played and played until it was time to add some stamps.

i added some along the edges, as well as added some extra circles using a paint cover, a few doodles and some extra colour

then i just kept playing and layering and using my stamp platform i layered my face stamp using paints.. i also stamped my dream catcher onto another piece of paper and then cut out and pop dotted it onto my page after stamping my quote

and then with a little stitching a few more stamps and here you have it my finished piece

thanks for stopping by and don’t forget to jump on over to the Mixed Media Monthly Challenge page and check out everyone else’s projects. also while you are there you can check out the rules on adding a project to have a chance to win the prize !

until next time my friends,

wishes and dragonflies

hello everyone!!

today I am here to share with you a quick little project I made as a gift for someone special using just a few items

Please note that although i have received some of the products used to create this project from some great companies, the opinions I share are solely my own.

so I started out by cutting out a journal using some paper leather. i then cut out and placed in the center a dragonfly and along the edge some gears.  next i die cut another dragonfly and laid it over the first. I then laid my stencil over top and using a palette knife applied some modeling paste. This is when i removed my top dragonfly as it was only used to cover the bottom one to protect it.  once that was totally dried I covered the whole front of my journal using black gesso.

Now my journal cover is ready to have some colour added to it…so i began by applying some metallic paint in various colours over the entire thing

and then followed that up by using some metallic waxes, varying colours wth that as well. as i was totally involved and fingers covered in paint and wax i miss taking pictures but basically i just kept adding until i was happy with the colouring. as a final touch i i layered some clear dragonfly wings before adding a couple of chitchat stickers to my journal cover.

so here you have it.. some closeups of this project

and the total front cover.

Mixed Media Monthly Challenge #44 – mid month posting!!

hello everyone!!

It’s mid-month inspiration time over at Mixed Media Monthly (https://mixedmediamc NULL.blogspot NULL.ca/2018/01/mid-month-inspiration-post-new-team NULL.html). Our theme this month is ‘Ring in the New’ and  remember you still have time to enter!

Image may contain: text

and here is my project.. i have done two pages to share with you

these pages are part of my ‘new’ journal and a ‘new’ year of calendar making.

the page started out with a thin layer of gesso followed by a few sprays of some Art Anthology. once that was all dry i applied some archival ink to some stamps and stamped on the outside of both pages. next i added some texture paste through one of my The Crafter’s Workshop stencils and then some gold paste through another.

on one page i added my words and on the other page i added my stencil and a mandala

pretty quick and easy page for each week. i hope you enjoyed them

until next time my friends,

diana
