Eileen Hull / DCWV – Holiday project

hello everyone!!! hasn’t this been a fun and festive month with the Eileen Hull Inspiration team creating pieces using the DCWV paper line!! I have seen so many projects that I want to recreate.. so many talented folks. I hope you have checked it out!!
(https://1 NULL.bp NULL.blogspot NULL.jpg)
for my project this month decided to create a piece to display on my desk at work, that is if it makes it into the office and off my window sill in my studio!
so i started out by cutting out 5 ATB’s using matboard (https://www NULL.simonsaysstamp I love using this stuff as it makes for a solid base when creating a 3D project.
next I started cutting out  using the DCWV Cranberry Christmas (http://www NULL.michaels NULL.html#q=cranberry+christmas&start=1)paper pack squares in various sizes. I absolutely love the richness of this paper line and the foil bits oh my!!
counting-up-the-squaresthen the planning began and the first of three romance flowers were created. I glued the squares together for each pedal on all three sets in order to be sure there was colour from all sides!
romance-flower eilieens-romance-flowerand it was time to figure out what I wanted these blocks to say and in what order… so a bit of planning as I was laying them out….
and now I think I have it… except for a few changes…
atb-planningand now here you have the completed set (and look no ink!!)

oh and I was just thinking the “LOVE” side could be displayed during February for Valentines day…yes.. these blocks will get lots of use in my home
hope you have been following along and checking out all the projects on this fun blog hop we have had with DCWV this month!
oh and that you are creating!!

art journalling with Rendr and Eileen Hull

hello everyone! i can’t believe where this month has gone…

This month the Eileen Hull (http://www NULL.eileenhull Inspiration Team will be working with Crescent Art Products along with Eileen’s new Sizzix collection Paper Flower Party (http://shrsl!
The Inspiration Team has been focused on two Crescent Art Products, RENDR paper (http://crescentartists NULL.htm) and Photo Mat Art Board (http://crescentartists NULL.htm). (https://www NULL.blogger
RENDR Paper (http://crescentartists NULL.htm) is 100% no-show through.  This means you can ink, stamp, spray, paint and color to your heart’s content with absolutely no bleed through.
Photo Mat Art Board  (http://crescentartists NULL.htm)is another fantastic Crescent product being showcased this month.  Photo Mat Art Boards make it easy to create professional quality photo projects with your own artistic style.

well today i am here to show you a project that i guess perhaps may look like a pretty simple one (and it is!) but a very layered one

now this paper they said could take a lot of medium and not soak through the other side. as an art journaler, well i need the proof so off i went

i dug out some of my decoArt media paints to create my rainbow of colour background

RENDR paperthen by running some thicker foam through my big kick using Eileen  Hull’s Heart and Soul flowers die (http://www NULL.sizzix i so happily ended up with a wonderful set of flower stamps!! love that one can do that with any die!

heart and soul stamps

i then stamped using some white paint onto my Rendr paper pad

painted flowernext was just adding random bits of colour onto my page. when doing so i used some water(okay lots of water) to spread the paint further.. remember i am testing this paper!!

heart and soul paintedthen i dug out some positive quote stamps and archival ink

stamped rendri was quite happy where this was going.. next it was taking a stencil and adding even more paint and some sprays

decoart and TCWloved all the different layers i have been creating. wanted to give it a little more so added a layer of black

rendr and eileen hullnow it was just a matter of finishing it up. i had thought about using it for a background for a scrapbook page then decided that i liked it as an art journal page but then thought it would be perfect to cover a piece of mat board to make an Artist Trading Block or cut it up totally and use it to make some flowers….. decisions…

so for now i have decided to leave it as is with bits of doodling!!!

eileen hull and rendrethanks so much for dropping by today!!!

Favourite Things ATB

hello everyone!! isn’t it hard to believe Christmas is only a couple days away!! where oh where has this year gone!!

The theme for the December Art with Heart Challenge is “Favorite Things (http://www NULL.eileenhull NULL.html)“.

well who doesn’t hear Julie Andrews singing in the Sound of Music every time ‘these are a few of my favourite things’

to start the whole process i cut from mat board an xl block/cube die  (http://www NULL.inspirationemporium NULL.HTML)and using Eileen’s heart & label (http://www NULL.inspirationemporium NULL.HTML), i cut the label out of the centre of one and the end of the other. this would allow me to view inside the mirrored box and place a tealight underneath the block. to cover my tea light i used the Cookie box die and just cut it down to size to fit around the tealight!

atb collage

so for my project i decided i would include some of my favourite things from the last year with a hint of Julie’s song

the ATB is by far one of my favourite things. (brown paper packages all tied up with string)

favourite things brownpaperpackages

my reindeer die (pretend it is a cream coloured pony!)

favourite things deer

Distress glitter; the new vintage one…. i am not a glitter girl but how can one resist this colour!!! ( bright copper kettles)

favourite things glitter

the  snowflake charms hanging inside of the mirrored box..(snowflakes that stay on my nose and eyelashes)..

favourite things snowflake

the ring of feathers around the base representing snow and angels (silver white winters that melt into springs)

favourite things silver white winters

i am one of those freaks that loves snow.. mind you if it stayed off the roads and my driveway i would be even happier (LOL).

and so you have a glimpse into my favourite things..and my favourite movie too … now here is the full picture

Art with Heart – holidays!

You hello everyone!! i am here today to show you my creations for the Art with Heart Challenge this month; Hauntings and Holidays

art-with-heart-october-hauntings-and-holidays-sizzix-prize-packso i was lucky enough to get the Graphic45 Christmas Carol (http://www NULL.g45papers and holy moly i have to tell you i was challenged!!

if you follow me at all you know i absolutely LOVE the smell and look of their papers but am terrified and so challenged on what i am to do with them. i asked my fellow design team members and their suggestion ; which I followed,  was ‘fussy cutting’

so i knew where to start…..

I am so not a fussy cutter but oh am I glad I did it!! I had the absolute best time layering and creating this beautiful piece of paper into a 3D creation…. now what to do with it.. and how do I incorporate that into my Eileen Hull challenge….Graphic45 collage

I tried to figure out what I could do to give justice to this beautiful line of paper along with mixing it up and creating with Eileen’s dies….

the first thing I thought of was an ATB….but one ATB wasn’t going to cut it..  do I create a few of them and puzzle piece this together????

i was thinking…

so I dug through my supplies and I found a Graphic45 8×8 Matchbook (http://www NULL.g45papers that I had purchased a while back and figured you know what..  i bet those little ATB’s should fit in here just fine…..

so off I was creating and measuring. first i  glued the Graphic45 paper to the mat board and because i was using the mini ATB i wanted to measure and cut strips.

graphic45 step out 1

after running them through the vagabond (i did this 50 times as i was creating 25 containers) i applied wonder tape to both ends of one and one end of the other to create the mini boxes

creating mini advent with Graphic45i  managed to fit all 25 of those little boxes into the Matchbook box (with a little squeeze here and there)  and as I was doing so it hit me exactly what I was going to do with this!! so that is when i added the little bits and pieces of idea-ology to the tops and  a bit of ribbon and look what was created!advent

an advent calendar for ME!!! how much fun is that!!

I am in love with this piece and can’t wait to have it filled for me. I don’t get to enjoy bought calendars as they for the most part are either cheap chocolate or contain gluten…  so this is PERFECT!!
