Mixed Media Monthly Challenge #39 – Perfect Moment

hello everyone!

i had received  the Floral Fantasy (http://www NULL.indigoblu the Country House (http://www NULL.indigoblu and for my first challenge this month I am using the Floral Fantasty

but before I go further, here is the graphic for this month and if you decide to play in our challenge, remember to add it to your post if you want to be in with a chance to win our sponsor’s prize! You can read all about it HERE (https://mixedmediamc NULL.blogspot

my project I was so lucky to be able to create during my vacation week so work on it outside which made the drying process really fast.

I started working on one side of a sheet of water colour paper using DecoArt paints in warm colours, stamped along the edge and then flipped over and repeated on the other side using cool colours. then it was just a matter of fussy cutting the image out and layering them

I then cut a mini album (https://www NULL.sizzix matboard, sewed the outer edges, stamped my quote and butterfly and now it was just a matter of assembling.

I decided to add some white pen marks and pop dotted each layer before attaching to my book. so here you have it.. my finished project waiting to be filled / given away!

thanks for stopping by !!! now how about sharing what you can do with some altered embellishments!! join us over at MMM challenge post (https://mixedmediamc NULL.blogspot NULL.html), check out the rules, and share share share!!!

a treasured box DecoArt style!

hello everyone!! happy week to you all!!!

i am back again this week to show you another project for the Art with Heart Challenge (http://www NULL.eileenhull NULL.html), chose your own theme! the design team are using some old dies mixed with new things to create their own pieces of art!

art with Heart

today i have such a cool little treasure box to share with you all. i started by using Eileen Hulls toolbox die (http://www NULL.sizzix, one of my favourites and not necessarily old but one of the original ‘must have’ ones from here collection; which i cut out of black mat board.

then it was time to get out my DecoArt media (http://decoart line and play.

i started by layer a layer of crackle paint onto all pieces. once dry i started adding layers of paint starting with cobalt turquoise
decoart crackle paste followed by Phthalo Bluelayering deco crackle and paint and finally to bring it all together, Transparent Red Iron Oxidethird colour decorate media how yummy is that!!deco art crackle and paint  i love how this turned out!!!  the crackle, that paint and the black mat board peaking through…  makes me very happy

now that is where i got lost in the whole process but here are some pictures of my finished projectIMG_0774

the beauty on top of my treasure chest is the fanciful fairy (http://www NULL.sizzix by Peter Hughes for Sizzix. i cut two opposites out and glued them together to sit on top of the box. i had though of trying to make her into a mermaid but she is so perfect just the way she is! such detail on her skirt and wings! decoart treasurebox inside decorate treasure boxi treasured my vacation and the marvellous project i created to hold my treasured seaglass

hope you are creating!

Mixed Media May-hem with DecoArt Media

have you been playing!!

i have and had so much fun creating this piece to share with you that i may have forgotten to take some step outs for you so be sure to ask any questions you may have in the comment section or shoot me an email!!

so not only have i been having fun this month playing with the fabulous  DecoArt Media Line (http://decoart, but the whole Inspiration Team has been having a blast over at Eileen Hulls Art with Heart Challenge (http://www NULL.eileenhull NULL.html)

(http://1 NULL.bp NULL.blogspot NULL.jpg)

for my project this month i created a frame with a ‘floating’ bluebird in the center!!
i started by cutting this bird (http://www NULL.sizzix out of grungeboard and applying various rubons &  paints with my finger to the bird and wings. once dry i added  a nice coat of satin glaze.

for my frame i cut out a  vintage travel tag from white matboard. i love how one die can be used so many different ways!

i then chose a variety of paints and painted the entire frame and once dried applied some antique cream in white. this is my favorite part of the entire frame!! loved this finish but i didn’t stop….

painted frame
how sweet is that finish!!!

next i applied crackle to the frame to antique it even further

for the banner i coated the whole thing using liquid glass which as it was drying allowed me to bend and wrap the banner around my frame..isn’t that cool!!!

so here are all the products from the media line that i used:

and here is my finished project
