Eileen Hull – candy canister

hello everyone!

welcome to the first of my monthly posts  for Eileen Hull (http://www NULL.eileenhull NULL.com/).   This month the design team are sharing with you projects under the theme of either Halloween, Christmas or Autumn! my project in real life today does not look like this anymore because really the only reason for me to make a Halloween project is to have an excuse to buy candy corn…. I’m just being honest here!

keeping it real folks!!

when deciding what kind of project I wanted to create I knew I just had to use the Ravens (https://www NULL.simonsaysstamp NULL.com/product/Tim-Holtz-Cling-Rubber-Stamps-2017-RAVENS-CMS310-CMS310TH) stamp set somehow for my Halloween project. (this is one of the sets i a had won during the Facebook live with Tim Holtz!!!) i had an idea using alcohol ink and what better surface than on some YUPO (https://www NULL.simonsaysstamp NULL.com/product/Tim-Holtz-Adirondack-WHITE-ALCOHOL-INK-YUPO-PAPER-TAC49715-TAC49715RI?currency=USD) paper.

so I started out by  cutting out a canister from mat board. I then applied some YUPO paper to some adhesive paper, die cut a canister and then layered on top of my mat board. I then covered my canister with a few darker shades of alcohol ink along with a bit of silver

then this is where the fun part started for me. I placed my canister flat into my stamp platform and using a raven stamp and some black archival ink I stamped and stamped until I got the result I wanted

I loved the ghostly effect but I thought I might try adding some brown archival ink to see if I could add just a bit of colour

now I loved how it turned out and the ‘glow’ around the outside but in the end decided that I wanted it back to the ghostly look

then I ended up getting lost in the process. i had  die cut three bats out of one side and created a window from the ticket mover and shaker out of the other side.

I then lined the whole thing with some clear packaging because I knew I wanted to fill it with candy

and so now here you have it.. my finished canister filled (or was filled) with some halloween treats!

thanks for stopping by and until next time,

diana

Some of the products used in this project have been provided to me by Eileen Hull and Sizzix however  the opinions I share here are solely my own

Sizzix Maker Challenge – Is it a House, a Pocket or a Flag!!

hello everyone!

I am back today to share with you a different way to use the Eileen Hull House/Pocket Stitchlit (https://www NULL.sizzix NULL.com/661902/sizzix-thinlits-die-set-9pk-house-pocket-stitchlits)

I originally created my original project with this die as a banner and ever since then I have been thinking about a specific project and well this is the time to share it here with you!

in today’s world of social media it is so easy to request someone to share a prayer, a positive thought, sending a bit of light etc. and every time I see this I do a silent send their way and that is what got me thinking and creating

so i proceeded to cut out some house’s using the house/pocket stitchlit and in the way i folded it it turns out that i end up with a different type of banner bit that can be used!!

See you always need to be on the lookout for those extra ways right!

i took each one and folded down the top portion and sewed straight across the top in order to create a little pocket for a string to go through so i can hang these outside in the breeze.

next i placed the bits one at  a time into my stamping platform and sometimes using the initials and sometimes the first name of the individuals, i stamped using some paint.

I then just added various stamps on the flags and then strung them up outside.

here are a few of  the flags i want to share with you and hope it encourages you to look outside of what your die was created for and to what it can be used for as a bonus!

thanks for stopping by today! don’t forget that Sizzix has a Makers Challenge happening this month using Eileen’s Heartfelt collection. just click on this picture and it will take you there for all the details
