Sizzix Maker Challenge – Is it a House, a Pocket or a Flag!!

hello everyone!

I am back today to share with you a different way to use the Eileen Hull House/Pocket Stitchlit (https://www NULL.sizzix NULL.com/661902/sizzix-thinlits-die-set-9pk-house-pocket-stitchlits)

I originally created my original project with this die as a banner and ever since then I have been thinking about a specific project and well this is the time to share it here with you!

in today’s world of social media it is so easy to request someone to share a prayer, a positive thought, sending a bit of light etc. and every time I see this I do a silent send their way and that is what got me thinking and creating

so i proceeded to cut out some house’s using the house/pocket stitchlit and in the way i folded it it turns out that i end up with a different type of banner bit that can be used!!

See you always need to be on the lookout for those extra ways right!

i took each one and folded down the top portion and sewed straight across the top in order to create a little pocket for a string to go through so i can hang these outside in the breeze.

next i placed the bits one at  a time into my stamping platform and sometimes using the initials and sometimes the first name of the individuals, i stamped using some paint.

I then just added various stamps on the flags and then strung them up outside.

here are a few of  the flags i want to share with you and hope it encourages you to look outside of what your die was created for and to what it can be used for as a bonus!

thanks for stopping by today! don’t forget that Sizzix has a Makers Challenge happening this month using Eileen’s Heartfelt collection. just click on this picture and it will take you there for all the details

Eileen Hull – Pocket House = Chore holder

hello everyone!

today i am here to share with you a quick and easy project you can create using the Eileen Hull pocket house (https://www NULL.sizzix NULL.com/661902/sizzix-thinlits-die-set-9pk-house-pocket-stitchlits) die!!

i am always looking for ways to use my dies in a different way and this is what i came up with this time!!   here is basically what i did.

  •  place a piece of fabric onto a piece of double sided adhesive.
  • cover a sheet of mat board (https://www NULL.sizzix NULL.com/656491/sizzix-little-sizzles-6-x-13-mat-board-pack-6-cream-sheets)with double sided adhesive and cover with felt
  • die cut a house out of the fabric and two out of the felt/mat board
  • die cut one piece of mat board from the 3D die
  • using a strong adhesive place all together and decorate

i then just put together some tags which i had die cut and decorated with various chores on the back.    your child (or spouse LOL) can then just chose a tag each day/week and do assigned chores!

just one of so many ways this versatile die can be used!!!

and did you know that there is a new Maker Challenge happening over at Sizzix!!!!  I hope you get the chance to join in with this fabulous challenge. there are some fabulous prizes on offer.  just click on this photo for the direct link!

i hope you have a chance to play along or to even just play!!

until next time

Eileen Hull heart and soul meets powertex!

Hello everyone!!

today I am here to show you a project I created for Eileen Hull (http://www NULL.eileenhull NULL.com/)Inspiration team  using the heart and soul die  (http://www NULL.sizzix NULL.com/661108/sizzix-bigz-die-flower-heart-soul) and spring leaves (http://www NULL.sizzix NULL.com/661111/sizzix-bigz-die-leaves-spring)die but it is not your typical project…

I had taken a powertex class from the wonderful Cheryl Bogliali in 2016 at a  local retreat and fell in love with the product but alas didn’t really do much with it again until  I sat down with my sister and created our figurines …..  but the itch to create was still quite strong.   so when Eileen challenged her inspiration team this month to create using her dies in a different way …. well out came my powertex and Kunin felt  and well here is what I did

I started off by die cutting the flower and leaves out of Kunin felt. I opted to use the darker colours as I wasn’t sure how this project would turn out. I then soaked them in powertex making sure the felt was completely saturated

I then attached it to a bottle using some cotton and let it set for a very long time to dry…….  once it was completely dry I set out to add a bit of shimmer, a few stones and a dragonfly brad and this is what I came up with

a simple little wine cuff to attach to a bottle to add that little extra touch to a gift!

how do you use your Eileen Hull dies in a different way!!! do share with us and let us know!

Eileen Hull – July Journalling

hello everyone

today I am here to share with you my latest project for the Eileen Hull Inspiration team (http://www NULL.eileenhull NULL.com/)

this project started last month spinning around in my head as I was cleaning up my studio.  if you recall in May we had a wonderful swap with Kunin felt and I have so very much left that I have been hoarding.. I am not sure about you but sometimes it is hard to make that first cut right!!

anyway with that said I did it!!

I started out by cutting my journal covers from the beautiful grey felt.. after admiring it for a while I needed to decide what to put on it…that is when I decided to decorate it with these flowers

and then i cut out some more in different felt colours until i had enough to decorate the front

here are the chosen colours…

now, if you know me, you know I am really not a stitcher because I find it hard to do anything in a straight clean line so I don’t happen to own any embroidery thread BUT you see my sister is a beautiful stitcher and recently she left a container at my place soooo.. RIGHT!!!  I started digging through her stash for just the right colours and then.. it needed a little something so I cut out the Sizzix Scoreboards die – Bird Sizzix Scoreboards die – Bird (http://www NULL.sizzix NULL.com/657120/sizzix-scoreboards-die-bird) and attached her to the front

now….. what to do.. from the heart my projects are so I did a bit of research and found a site that had lists of things to be grateful for so I printed them out, stitched them into my journal and added the word gratitude to the front

i sewed bits of Eileen Hull paper onto each page to allow for some hidden spots to journal on…

and here you have it!

I hope you have stuck around and enjoyed reading/looking through my process. please do leave me a comment as well as jump on over to Eileen’s (http://www NULL.eileenhull NULL.com) page to see what my fellow design teamies are up too!

Eileen Hull and Stampotique

hello everyone!

this month Eileen Hull (http://www NULL.eileenhull NULL.com/)‘s Inspiration Team has collaborated with Stampotique (http://www NULL.stampotique NULL.com/) stamps  to create some beautiful projects.. I hope you have checked them all out!!

today I am very excited to share with  the project I complete using Eileen Hull’s Passport Book (http://www NULL.shareasale NULL.com/r NULL.cfm?u=1060939&b=572208&m=51987&afftrack=&urllink=www%2Esizzix%2Ecom%2F660331%2Fsizzix%2Dscoreboards%2Dxl%2Ddie%2Dbook%2Dpassport) die.

how did i create such rich backgrounds…well let me tell you!!  I basically started out by removing the caps from the clearsnap containers and layered paint onto my craft mat. this paint is so rich..seriously you don’t need very much and it goes so so far!!

I repeated it with blends of warm colours on the back side and then layered the warm on the cool

I love how rich of a colour these are.. like seriously  Eileen Hull’s ColorBox Blend inks in Stop (Red)!!

once the pieces were dry it was a matter of stitching around the outside and then I stamped Row Faces (http://www NULL.stampotique NULL.com/stamp/penney-torrente/6020 NULL.html), one of my all time favourite stamps designed by the team of Jill Penney & Daniel Torrente, along the bottom of each piece to make them all blend together

I then stamped onto a separate piece of watercolour paper all the bits I wanted to add to my passport book . and to clean my stamps off I stamped them onto the above background just to add a bit more dimension!

I chose to use stamps designed by the fabulous and talented Kate Crane; the Scribble Angel (http://www NULL.stampotique NULL.com/stamp/kate-crane/11022 NULL.html) Angel Squared (http://www NULL.stampotique NULL.com/stamp/kate-crane/11008 NULL.html), Hold on Tight (http://www NULL.stampotique NULL.com/stamp/kate-crane/11003 NULL.html) and Guardian (http://www NULL.stampotique NULL.com/stamp/kate-crane/11001 NULL.html) and once stamped using archival ink I coloured them in using the colorbox ink and a waterbrush

and now for a few pictures .. okay a lot of pictures.. of the finished book. as you will see it is a little book meant to send someone on a scavenger hunt!!

I had so much fun creating this little book…. now to decide what to do with it!!!!

thanks for stopping by today. I hope you do take the time to visit Eileen’s page to see what the rest of month had brought you and check back next week for the recap on Eileen’s blog!
