today i am here to share with you another one of my projects for this release… this one i used felt as well. i am absolutely loving creating with it.. i need to source myself some more!
i hand stitched these stitchy flowers and leaf (http://www NULL.sizzix NULL.com/661903/sizzix-thinlits-die-set-13pk-stitchy-flowers-leaf)to the front to the art journal (http://www NULL.sizzix NULL.com/661906/sizzix-scoreboards-xl-die-journal) using some antique thread. i also added a bit of cheese cloth to the centre button
on the front of the journal, after die cutting the ‘you are my sunshine’ onto a piece of scrap paper i decided i wanted it outlined on my journal and then decided that i liked the idea of stitching….. it is funny how things change when we are creating isn’t it!! what we think we want takes all kinds of turns until it is finished. that is the part of the process i like! when it came time to bind my journal i decided to try using some wire and my twist and style tool!! this makes creating wire bits so easy!!!! i absolutely love these flowers die-cut from felt!!! the ink in the background gives my stitching the depth i loved!
to hid the stitching i die cut another journal cover, covered it with some creative tape and then pressed my felt cover to the front!
and then all that was left to do was to add some papers inside and then that quick and easy i have a journal that will possible hold positive quotes i come across through out my day, month year….
what have you been creating lately! if it is using one of Eileen’s dies (http://www NULL.sizzix NULL.com/catalogsearch/result/index/?q=eileen+hull&p=1) we would love to see it. share it with us on Eileen’s Facebook page (https://www NULL.facebook NULL.com/eileenhulldesigns/)..
speaking of sharing, i hope you have had the chance to check out what the rest of the inspiration team has been sharing with you all this month!
oh it seems forever since i have written up a blog post; i guess it’s been a while hasn’t it.
today though i am here to share with a cute and fast(ish) project i created in the spirit of ‘love’
i started out by cutting the suitcase (http://www NULL.sizzix NULL.com/657124/sizzix-scoreboards-xl-die-bag-suitcase)from the Sizzix leather paper sheets to which i had added a few colors of ColorBox.
now seeing as I am fairly new to them I started out with a heavier touch then needed. i am loving all the colours but chose to use nutmeg, sunshine, melon and my newest fav, stop!
so how do I proceed.. well I added a bit of water and let my colours mix and mingle and then set it aside to dry.
now I liked where this was going but just knew it needed a bit of texture so i inked the inside of the Daisy Wreath (http://www NULL.sizzix NULL.com/661423/sizzix-textured-impressions-embossing-folder-daisy-wreath) embossing folder using the nutmeg color blend
i was sure to ink both sides prior to placing my dried paper leather sheet inside and running it through my vagabond
now my suitcase needed a bit of stitching
and finally it needed some accents and a little book was created with the left over bits of paint and paper leather!
thanks for stopping by today to see what a great combination Eileen Hulls dies by Sizzix, her paints by ColorBox and the ‘let me see what I can do next with this’ paper leather by Sizzix…..
til next time..
i am here today to share with you one of what i am sure to be many pieces i am sure to be creating from the beautiful photo’s from my wonderful ‘turning 50’ trip. it was a trip that i had imagined but never thought it would be possible.. seeing the sunset on my last night being in my 40’s and the sunrise on my first day of my 50’s in one of the most beautiful awe inspiring no words can describe place on earth.
for this my first project, i started out by layering tissue paper and other bits onto a framed panel (https://www NULL.simonsaysstamp NULL.com/product/Tim-Holtz-Idea-ology-MINI-FRAMED-PANELS-Structures-TH93582-TH93582?currency=USD) using matte medium. i then used many different things from paint, to sprays, clear texture paste, crackle and vintage mediums. i coloured using my distress crayons, archival inks and some more paint until i was happy with the background.
i added some remnant rubs in both black and gold both on the background, the frame and the card to give it some added depth. the ’50’ is from a birthday card i received and were so perfect from me that i wanted to be able to keep them in a piece. so i embossed and debossed and inked and stained and rubbed and sanded until i got it to the place i wanted it to be.the wings represent the love of life both in the here and now as well as for those gone before me. i am a very blessed soul who does love life and never take for granted every breath i take. the three little pearls are there to represent those ladies in my life who went before me and who if it wasn’t for them i wouldn’t be who i am… my mom, my nanny and my aunt ruby.
i truly hope you all have a wonderfully blessed and happy week!
i am just jumping in here really quickly to share with you all some sneak peaks of some projects i have created for Eileen Hull (http://www NULL.eileenhull NULL.com)
this is the front of my favourite die this year !!
as well as this one. i have to admit i had a really hard time sending this one off. i filled it with lots of time and energy and it is so me! this one is holding a special treasure … meaningful things to share…
and this is another version of the first two and will be sure to be filled with ‘home’i am so excited about this set of new releases from Eileen and i can’t wait until you see what she has and for you to get your hands on them!!
Eileen drives around 2,500 miles to the venue each year, along with her beautiful 1960’s camper van called Scotty. this years adventure was just that. she ran into some of the nastiest weather … brave lady. i sure couldn’t of done it… so if you happen to be at the event being held in Phoenix this year, do stop by and give her a hug and a pat for Scotty for me!!!
this is Scotty at CHA in 2016 all set up in the Make and Take area… i snagged this photo from a fellow inspiration team member!
i hope you have enjoyed the sneak peaks. i just have to say i am so honoured to be able to be a part of this new release and of this team. Eileen designs beautiful products, Amy Bowerman keeps us all on task as our design team co-ordinator and my fellow inspiration team are amazing….. i am a very very lucky girl!
holy wow! I can’t believe that yet another year of Tim’s Tags has come and gone! the 12 tags of 2016-remix (http://timholtz NULL.com/12-tags-of-2016-december/)has been so full of inspiration and revisiting the techniques from years gone pass makes me realize how many things i have done and forgotten, and also makes me realize how far i have come!!
I know I am not the only one who loves to look back and see what each tag/technique we have done gives us the inspiration we need sometimes when that mojo is missing. I personally have mine all hung above my work space and literally look at them each time I am stuck. all the techniques can be transformed into an art journal page, a canvas, a scrapbook layout, a card etc….
so here is my final tag for 2016. as i was creating my tag this month i wanted to end my 2016 with a thought…. ‘cherish the moments’ is how one really needs to live each and every day so that is what i went with
and a few close ups!
i didn’t follow exactly as tim did but that is what i believe he encourages us to do every month….recreate using his techniques but make it our own…..thank you so much tim for all your inspiration (http://timholtz NULL.com/blog/)though the years.
