today i am sharing with you my first journal i created using one of Eileen Hull’s newest releases, journal (http://www NULL.sizzix NULL.com/661906/sizzix-scoreboards-xl-die-journal)
now this is a game changer for sure. there are simply so many possibilities for this one single die. i can see one for travel, one for birthday’s, one for an exercise journal, one for quote collections, etc
i created it by painting the outside of the covers using a variety of metallic and acrylic paints and added a few stamps and that is how quick and simply fast it was.
then it was time to decorate the inside. for that i cut out pieces of paper, which i folded to make two pages. at the start of each month
here is a quick video of a flip through for you:
and here are some still shots
i hope you have stopped by Eileen’s blog (http://www NULL.eileenhull NULL.com)and checked out the links to the other inspiration team’s projects!! there are some mighty fine ones there each week for you to take a boo at!
i am here today to share with you one of what i am sure to be many pieces i am sure to be creating from the beautiful photo’s from my wonderful ‘turning 50’ trip. it was a trip that i had imagined but never thought it would be possible.. seeing the sunset on my last night being in my 40’s and the sunrise on my first day of my 50’s in one of the most beautiful awe inspiring no words can describe place on earth.
for this my first project, i started out by layering tissue paper and other bits onto a framed panel (https://www NULL.simonsaysstamp NULL.com/product/Tim-Holtz-Idea-ology-MINI-FRAMED-PANELS-Structures-TH93582-TH93582?currency=USD) using matte medium. i then used many different things from paint, to sprays, clear texture paste, crackle and vintage mediums. i coloured using my distress crayons, archival inks and some more paint until i was happy with the background.
i added some remnant rubs in both black and gold both on the background, the frame and the card to give it some added depth. the ’50’ is from a birthday card i received and were so perfect from me that i wanted to be able to keep them in a piece. so i embossed and debossed and inked and stained and rubbed and sanded until i got it to the place i wanted it to be.the wings represent the love of life both in the here and now as well as for those gone before me. i am a very blessed soul who does love life and never take for granted every breath i take. the three little pearls are there to represent those ladies in my life who went before me and who if it wasn’t for them i wouldn’t be who i am… my mom, my nanny and my aunt ruby.
i truly hope you all have a wonderfully blessed and happy week!
i am here today to quickly share with you all my version of this months Tim’s Twelve Tags – Remix 2016 (http://timholtz NULL.com/12-tags-of-2016-november/). for all the step outs and the hows to’s drop on over to his site and following along!! you have one day left to post your take!!
for me this month was a reminder of how much i love to just lay a sheet of remnant rubs (https://www NULL.simonsaysstamp NULL.com/product/Tim-Holtz-Idea-ology-GILDED-HOLIDAYS-Remnant-Rubs-TH93250--TH93250-) on a tag and let be what happens after a quick rub..the randomness of the whole thing is what makes a wonderful background for the tag or art journal page and i love that
so here is my take:
i chose to use the white remnant rubs as i am in full Christmas mode in the studio preparing for an upcoming class and with the forecast of some snow i thought i would do the whole winter theme… i used the snowflake from the blueprint christmas (https://www NULL.simonsaysstamp NULL.com/product/Tim-Holtz-Cling-Rubber-Stamps-CHRISTMAS-BLUEPRINT-CMS135-46738?currency=USD) stamp set along with an idea-ology piece and the back ground the snowflake from the layered snowflake (https://www NULL.simonsaysstamp NULL.com/product/Tim-Holtz-Sizzix-Bigz-Die-and-Texture-Fades-LAYERED-SNOWFLAKE-660040-660040TH) die
i loved using the metal sheets as the background for my believe…shiny things make me happy!!hope you all enjoyed creating your latest piece and that you have uploaded your projects for all to enjoy!
i am here today to quickly share with you all my version of this months Tim’s Twelve Tags – Remix 2016 (http://timholtz NULL.com/12-tags-of-2016-september/). for all the step outs and the hows to’s drop on over to his site and following along!!
I have to say I fell in love with this technique during the CC103 this summer and I had so much fun playing and was totally tempted to use one of the pieces I created then but nope!! new month, new tag.
so here is what I came up with and felt I failed miserably
but wanted to keep going…. and here is what I ended up with after restamping with a bit of blue and red archival inks and apply tim’s technique through the stencil
and then I thought I would try it again and see what else I could do….
I have to admit I struggled with this one and even though I felt through the process I was missing something I am pleased with how it turned out and I did enjoy the process. that is my favourite thing about doing these monthly tags. it allows me to either practice what it is I love to do or challenges me to try something new. I hope you have all played along this month and have had the opportunity to play with something new
today I am here to share with you a piece i created that started out with the whole idea of just playing with the new Halloween mixed media die (https://www NULL.simonsaysstamp NULL.com/product/RESERVE-Tim-Holtz-Sizzix-MIXED-MEDIA-HALLOWEEN-Thinlits-Die-661588-661588THS?currency=USD).
i absolutely loved this one die out of the set and quickly ran a few sheets of substrate sheet (https://www NULL.simonsaysstamp NULL.com/product?id=338923)through my vagabond and decided this is THE one! i also originally used the Damask texture fade (https://www NULL.simonsaysstamp NULL.com/product/RESERVE-Tim-Holtz-Sizzix-DAMASK-Texture-Fades-Embossing-Folder-661592-661592THS/1150)on my side tag.. i am not quite sure why i didn’t use it in the finished piece …
here is a few pics of my thought process…..
i used lots of bits of stuff.. tried out the new Rust Paste, added bits of foil, a couple pieces of idea ology.. i stitched and stapled and applied some rub ons…..
i absolutely love this picture.. it speaks to exactly how my life is and hope i have done it justice!!
i love the foil on glue technique and finishes this art parts frame perfectly!
here is a close up of the rub ons on mirror.. love how it turned out and the finished piece
i have said it before i am not a Halloween girl but i do like the candy and absolutely love this die and how my final piece created celebrating our 10 year anniversary together.
remember.. love matters.. handle all with care … xoxo
hope you are spending time creating!
