Unsung Hero with Emerald Creek & altered pages!

hello everyone!!

i am here today to share with you a project i created for Emerald Creek in partnership with Altered Pages

so i knew as soon as i seen the artful nudes and fairy wings they would become the focus piece of my art journal page. here are few of the step outs for you to see my process

i started out by fussy cutting the two main pieces and then i cut out a skirt for my nude.

once it was cut to fit my artful nude lady i covered it with some Art Anthology Sorbet in various colours to match my lady

i then set that piece aside to dry and started working on my background page. i applied some sorbet through my TCW stencil

and then i carefully used the Kimilise stamp and and various shades of StazOn ink to edge my piece

next once everything was dry i used some heavy gel medium and some of the quarry bits and added a touch of crystal to my piece to which i infused with lots of reiki love

then it was just a matter of adding a few final touches to my fairy lady.. who i happen to believe is one of many unsung heroes who have come before us. They paved the way for us today.

and so here you have my finished piece after adding a few butterflies and some stitching

i think she is absolutely the coolest thing… love the attitude on her face!!

i had a lot of fun creating this project. i hope you have enjoyed and that you too are taking time to create. you can find a link to most of the products used below!

TCW -creating some quick cards

hello everyone!

today i am sharing over on The Crafter’s Workshop page just how quick and easy it is to make a batch of cards!

so let’s get to it!!

first thing to do is to lay down a sheet of watercolour paper and lay various stencils on the papers. then sprinkle various colours of Color Burst

next spray some water to activate

now i am sure you are like me and don’t like to ‘waste’ all this extra goodness so be sure to have an extra sheet of watercolour paper on hand to press on top before lifting the stencils

once both sheets are dry you should have a nice pile of background colours

i am loving all these backgrounds.. now to make them into cards i had cut them up and on the third piece of paper i had used to clean up the stencils i stamped “Thanks’ a few times to attach to this pile of cards.

the final steps in creating my cards was I ran them through my vagabond using some embossing folders to give them a little extra bit of texture.  And here you have them again, my Thanks cards created using a just a few stencils.

The Crafter’s Workshop, Color Burst and Sizzix  provided me with some product to create this project. The opinions I share here are solely my own.

A Rose is a Rose

hello everyone!!

today I have created a project that brought back some fond childhood memories.  I remember being a little girl and there was a perfume I believe in the Avon book that my mom bought called ‘A Rose is a Rose’…… that is the inspiration for today’s page created for The Crafter’s Workshop in collaboration with Altered Pages.

have you enjoyed browsing The Crafter’s  Workshop blog this month and seeing what my fellow teamies have created!! i know i sure have. so much inspiration right!

so for this second project of the month from me i decided i wanted to use 1651 – flowers, letters, numbers. (https://alteredpages NULL.com/products/1651-flowers-letters-numbers-prikntable) . there was just something about that rose i knew i needed to use it. here is what i did.

i stared out my edging my page using a stencil and some modelling paste.

once it was dry i chose to use some oxides onto my edges of my page,

wet them down and then allowed them to dry

while my page was drying i cut out and glued my pieces to some chipboard and then i inked all those edges with oxide ink

i then wanted to add some flowers in my background so using the same oxide colours i inked some flowers with two different colours

i then sprayed the page again with water and dried it

i then inked the edges of all my altered page bits using the oxide inks

after layering and gluing my bits down, i then stamped some script onto my page

as you can see i also added some glitter and seed beads using gel medium. you see it goes on white but it does dry clear!

but it was still missing something…so out came my final stencil

and here you have my finished page

Supplies used:

TCW stencils:  TCW754 – distressed details (http://store NULL.thecraftersworkshop NULL.com/product/tcw754-distressed-details/); TCW727 –  flower dance; (http://store NULL.thecraftersworkshop NULL.com/product/tcw727-flower-dance/)  TCW261 – stencil art is (http://store NULL.thecraftersworkshop NULL.com/product/stencil-art-is/)

TCW mixed media supplies: TCW9005 – modeling paste (http://store NULL.thecraftersworkshop NULL.com/product/tcw9005-modeling-paste/) and TCW9011 – matte gel medium (http://store NULL.thecraftersworkshop NULL.com/product/tcw9011-matte-gel-medium-8-oz/)

TCW – stenciling furniture

hello everyone!

isn’t it hard to believe that August is almost over! where has this month gone.. this month i decided to add a bit of colour to my space

The Crafter’s Workshop provided me with some product to create this project. The opinions I share are solely my own.

so I opened my home studio over a year ago and I just used old kitchen cabinets for storage and old tables with an added pressboard top for my workshops and they were working really well…but everything was darkish.   so I took it upon myself to paint the cabinets and well  since i did have lots of paint left over I figured why not paint the desk tops too!!

but then I couldn’t just leave them white right!! so I decided I would brighten them up just a bit and after choosing the Stained Glass stencils  and deciding i wanted to create a row using the colours of our chakras I began

i applied various colours through each stencil to create variation through out and kept going until i was happy.

i just kept sponging and mixing until i had all seven of the stencils in place

as much as  i love the crisper lines i wanted my image to appear aged so taking a baby wipe i wiped down each ring

now that is what i wanted!!  the table looked incomplete with just the 7 images down the centre so i took out the 6×6 of the same stencil and stencilled the corners as well as TCW261s and using the black licorice paint i bordered my tables. i purposefully didn’t use the entire stencil each time because once again i wanted that aged look

now for the final touch i used a couple of different tapes around the entire table

and here you have it.. my completed table tops

the crown chakra colours to the root chakra colours is what will greet my customers when they come in

and from where i sit and create is the root chakra colours to the crown chakra coloursi hope you have been inspired to use your stencils on pieces around your home. i have not stopped thinking about what i could stencil next!!!

A QUICK TIP:  something i did learn though this whole process is that one should always make sure to take note of where the bottom of your stencil is for those times you wanted to line it back up again to add colour.

Supplies used:

TCW261s (http://store NULL.thecraftersworkshop NULL.com/?s=tcw261&post_type=product) – art is
TCW462 (http://store NULL.thecraftersworkshop NULL.com/product/stencil-stained-glass/)– stained glass
TCW heavy body paints (http://store NULL.thecraftersworkshop NULL.com/product-tag/mixed-media/) – black licorice, lemon custard, orange slice, candy apple red, blueberry pie, grape jelly, raspberry sorbet, blue jellybean, kale smoothy and spun sugar
