Eileen Hull – July Journalling

hello everyone

today I am here to share with you my latest project for the Eileen Hull Inspiration team

this project started last month spinning around in my head as I was cleaning up my studio.  if you recall in May we had a wonderful swap with Kunin felt and I have so very much left that I have been hoarding.. I am not sure about you but sometimes it is hard to make that first cut right!!

anyway with that said I did it!!

I started out by cutting my journal covers from the beautiful grey felt.. after admiring it for a while I needed to decide what to put on it…that is when I decided to decorate it with these flowers

and then i cut out some more in different felt colours until i had enough to decorate the front

here are the chosen colours…

now, if you know me, you know I am really not a stitcher because I find it hard to do anything in a straight clean line so I don’t happen to own any embroidery thread BUT you see my sister is a beautiful stitcher and recently she left a container at my place soooo.. RIGHT!!!  I started digging through her stash for just the right colours and then.. it needed a little something so I cut out the Sizzix Scoreboards die – Bird Sizzix Scoreboards die – Bird  and attached her to the front

now….. what to do.. from the heart my projects are so I did a bit of research and found a site that had lists of things to be grateful for so I printed them out, stitched them into my journal and added the word gratitude to the front

i sewed bits of Eileen Hull paper onto each page to allow for some hidden spots to journal on…

and here you have it!

I hope you have stuck around and enjoyed reading/looking through my process. please do leave me a comment as well as jump on over to Eileen’s page to see what my fellow design teamies are up too!

I love the idea of a gratitude journal. If I had one you’d be in it! LOVE the felting too…so fun and bright and cheery. Hugs to you!

That grey Kunin felt was by far my favourite and I can understand you not wanting to cut it or the other pieces! I love your journal, it looks so soft and tactile and I love how you incorporated so many of the dies – brilliant job! Anne x

[…] Diana Hetherington has a fabulous felt Gratitude Journal to share with you today.  Felt is oh so fun to create with and Diana’s cover is pure joy!  Eileen Hull Sizzix Die cuts past and present are represented here.  I just adore the old favorite bird die nestled into the new stitchy flowers. Diana- this journal just makes so happy! It seems like the bird is smiling at me from his little flower nest 🙂 So cute and bet it feels very soft- love felt!
