mixed media monthly challenge #40 – mid month vintage challenge

hello everyone!!

so today i am here to share with you a project i created for this months mixed media monthly challenge.

so before i go into the details of how i created this vintage art piece  i want to share a couple of things with you….. first off take a look at who our sponsor is this month!!!

No automatic alt text available.
yes!! it is The Funkie Junkie.. the place where you can get those much desired and sought after supplies!
and the second thing i wanted to share is this months image..  remember to add it to your post  if you want the chance to win our sponsor’s prize! You can read all about it HERE

okay now that those details are over let’s get into how i created my page

i was searching through some shelves for something, who knows what, and came across one of of Ken Olivers mixed media boards and my walnut ink kit and that is what triggered my idea!

so i started out by applying some crackle paste through the dragonfly stencil and i set that aside to dry. once it was dry i started using my sprays…once my dragonfly was sprayed with the terra cotta i covered it and then applied the other sprays on the outside edges.

then it was all about letting it dry. i loved how it turned out… and then i had this brilliant idea!!  why not add a few gems to highlight the dragonfly!! so out came my crystals

and i layered them into my dragonfly

i love all the crackles on this piece… it truly reminds me of the crackles you see in old pieces of ceramic…

i am wondering if perhaps i should layer a think layer of resin to preserve this piece…thinking…

thanks for stopping by.  don’t forget to play along!!

supplies used:

TCW656s – winged mosaic
imagine crafts – walnut stain
Ken Oliver – media board
Emerald Creek – citrine gemstone

Oh my goodness! This looks like it should be on display in a museum. It reminds me old ceramics from the Roman era. It’s so gorgeous thanks for sharing it with us Karen
