mixed media monthly challenge #40 – vintage

hello everyone!

can you believe it is September 1st!!! holy moly that was a fast summer wasn’t it… let’s hope for some beautiful temperatures to take us into the fall season!

today i am here to share with my creation for this months Mixed Media Monthly challenge #40 – vintage

Please note though I  have received some of the products from Sizzix, The Crafter’s Workshop and Impression Obsession that I have used on this project, my opinions of the products are solely my own.

so before i go into the details of how i created this vintage art journal page i want to share a couple of things with you….. first off take a look at who our sponsor is this month!!!

No automatic alt text available.
yes!! it is The Funkie Junkie.. the place where you can get those much desired and sought after supplies!
and the second thing i wanted to share is this months image..  remember to add it to your post  if you want the chance to win our sponsor’s prize! You can read all about it HERE

okay now that those details are over let’s get into how i created my page

i first started by layering some  texture paste through the stencil and let it dry.

i then rubbed some  distress ink directly onto the paste and then blending it with the blending tool. i repeated this throughout the whole page

then removing the cover of the ink spray i flicked some from the end of the straw thingmajig!

i added some more water and watched the magic begin. loving the effect on this texture paste !!!

once my page was completely dry i added some modeling paste through the butterfly collage stencil

so while my paste was drying i cut some butterflies out of a vintage book

and applied some  distress ink to them. i wasn’t sure yet which one i was going to use so did a few and figure i would add the extras to my diecut folders

i then decided to use this beauty of a quote direct to my page and how did i do that and get such a nice crisp image you ask??

why by using the stamp platform of course !! i love that i can put my art journal pages right in there and stamp!!!!

i then sewed around the outside of my page, added a few bits of torn vintage paper and for the final step i added some crackle glaze to bits of the page for the aged effect

and once again here you have it… my finished vintage art journal page for the Mixed Media Monthly Challenge #40!!!

don’t forget to play along with us and add your project HERE!! we love seeing what you create and we also love hearing what you think of our projects!

This is so beautiful! You and your fellow DT ladies have knocked it out the park this month. I love everything about this, the soft subtle colours, the obvious rich textures, it reminds me of good quality chocolate for some odd reason. I just got my Vintage Photo DO so I will be playing with it after seeing this beauty, thank you for the fabulous inspirations Karen x
