today i am here to share with my creation for this months Mixed Media Monthly challenge #40 – vintage

Please note though I  have received some of the products from Sizzix, The Crafter’s Workshop and Impression Obsession that I have used on this project, my opinions of the products are solely my own.

so before i go into the details of how i created this vintage art journal page i want to share a couple of things with you….. first off take a look at who our sponsor is this month!!!

No automatic alt text available. (https://scontent NULL.fykz1-1 NULL.fna NULL.fbcdn NULL.net/v/t1 NULL.0-9/20264527_10209571695357231_1784606768953479936_n NULL.jpg?oh=08184221ff54b35d067458cee54d3a1b&oe=5A148905)

okay now that those details are over let’s get into how i created my page

i first started by layering some  texture paste through the stencil and let it dry.

i then rubbed some  distress ink directly onto the paste and then blending it with the blending tool. i repeated this throughout the whole page

then removing the cover of the ink spray i flicked some from the end of the straw thingmajig!

i added some more water and watched the magic begin. loving the effect on this texture paste !!!

once my page was completely dry i added some modeling paste through the butterfly collage stencil

so while my paste was drying i cut some butterflies out of a vintage book

and applied some  distress ink to them. i wasn’t sure yet which one i was going to use so did a few and figure i would add the extras to my diecut folders

i then decided to use this beauty of a quote direct to my page and how did i do that and get such a nice crisp image you ask??

why by using the stamp platform of course !! i love that i can put my art journal pages right in there and stamp!!!!

i then sewed around the outside of my page, added a few bits of torn vintage paper and for the final step i added some crackle glaze to bits of the page for the aged effect

and once again here you have it… my finished vintage art journal page for the Mixed Media Monthly Challenge #40!!!

don’t forget to play along with us and add your project HERE!! we love seeing what you create and we also love hearing what you think of our projects!

Mixed Media Monthly Challenge #38 – Positive affirmation

hello everyone!!

it has been quite a month for me and i am so very excited to be sharing with you here today that I am now a part of the Mixed Media Monthly team!!!!

and with that I am here today to post my first project for Mixed Media Monthly!! (https://mixedmediamc NULL.blogspot NULL.ca/2017/06/mixed-media-monthly-challenge-38 NULL.html)

As you will know, each month means a new challenge at Mixed Media Monthly (http://mixedmediamc NULL.blogspot NULL.com/ NULL. NULL. NULL./mixed-media-monthly NULL. NULL. NULL.), and this month our theme is “Altered Embellishments!

for my first challenge  with this team i was lucky enough to jump in using chipboard from UmWowStudio.

(https://2 NULL.bp NULL.blogspot NULL.com/-C7YEt98VJ5c/WVY1vjwUDgI/AAAAAAAAMIU/1q-FLkl2aMEonilPve74_Q52wbsVffkDQCLcBGAs/s1600/mixedmedia38umwow NULL.jpg)

UmWowStudio (https://umwowstudio NULL.com/)is an innovative – on trend – chipboard manufacturer located in Las Vegas, NV. Partnering with other companies & now amazing designers (this months design was created by our very talented Lynne Forsythe (http://lynneforsythe NULL.blogspot NULL.com/)) their line is always expanding. The  chipboard is extra thick with a beautiful rich kraft finish ready for any medium.

okay before we go any further, here is the graphic for this month and if you decide to play in our challenge, remember to add it to your post if you want to be in with a chance to win our sponsor’s prize! You can read all about it HERE (https://mixedmediamc NULL.blogspot NULL.ca/2017/07/mixed-media-monthly-challenge-38 NULL.html#comment-form).

so for my project i had been planning on creating a positive affirmation sign in the entry way for when students/customers come and visit the studio so this was the perfect opportunity to create it using  chipboard bits!!

so i started with a base that I had created using  paper leather,  a TCW stencil, some crackle paste and some Emerald Creek embossing powder.

I then cut out a couple of flower pedals using the Eileen Hull Romance Flower die from Kunin felt and some canvas, added a bit of colour and  a bit of fabric stiffener, smooshed and then wrapped them in cling wrap to sit for the night

i am a self proclaimed hoarder of all things shiny but i thought it was time to use my little salvaged doll so off she went into a baggie with some alcohol in in red pepper

and then for the last step, after placing everything where i thought i wanted it on my framed panel to which i had added some patina effects, it was time to tackle my chipboard pieces.

so i played them down, dabbed some embossing ink on them and then sprinkled them with my all time favourite (well one of them anyway) embossing powders and then heat set them.. LOVE how these turned out and how they could be used and not having to worry about warping!!

and then using a bit of hot glue placed all bits together and here you have it..my completed project for the Mixed Media Monthly Design team!

thanks for stopping by !!! now how about sharing what you can do with some altered embellishments!! join us over at MMM challenge post (https://mixedmediamc NULL.blogspot NULL.com/2017/07/mixed-media-monthly-challenge-38 NULL.html), check out the rules, and share share share!!!

Art with Heart Challenge – January

Hello there everyone. Eileen Hull’s January Art with Heart Challenge (http://www NULL.eileenhull NULL.com/2015/01/art-with-heart-challenge-january-fresh-ideas NULL.html) is up and running. We want to see your projects and you could win a new Vintage Kitchen 3-D Oven die!

art-with-heart-january-challenge-fresh-ideas-sizzix-prize-pack

our theme this month is ‘Fresh Ideas’ and for my project I wanted to create something fresh, new, for a friend of mine.

so i created her this set!!!sewing set

the loaf pan is perfect created into a pin cushion IMG_6125_2the cookie box die was made into a button holder

IMG_6123_2

the centre button and the inside are both from a box of goodies one of my running buddies was giving away. the Singer paper reminds me of my mom and I am sure it will remind her of hers as well

IMG_5960and the window box die i created as a holder for spools of thread or quilt pins

IMG_6121_2the fabric pieces were specifically chosen for my friend… her birthday, her husbands birthday and their anniversary

IMG_6017all pieces were created using distress inks and layers of clear embossing powder. i wanted her to be able to handle them and trust them around her quilts with out worry of the distress ink rubbing off.

there is one more piece to this collection which i will be sharing later on this month.

i hope you like it.. i hope she likes it….  don’t forget to play along with the Art with Heart Challenge (http://www NULL.eileenhull NULL.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/01/art-with-heart-january-challenge-fresh-ideas-sizzix-prize-pack NULL.jpg)for your chance to own one of Eileen’s dies!

i am also linking up to Inspiration Journal (http://blog NULL.inspirationemporium NULL.com/?p=3165). the challenge over there for the month is ‘Fresh Start’ do join in on the challenges!!

til next time

TTT – January 2015

okay.. i am trying to do this again…. i am so hoping i take the time each month to sit a moment (or a few hours!) and create my own version of tim’s twelve tags (http://timholtz NULL.com/12-tags-of-2015-january/) 2015

i absolutely love the january tag.. every single thing about it. i don’t have all the same supplies but one doesn’t need to .. you just need to create with what you have. which is what i did!!

love the chit chat stickers…. they have so many words that stand on their own which is just what i want.. to be able to express exactly what i hope to have/achieve/live in 2015

wishes for 2015

though it is hard to see i used a mirrored sheet piece that was left over from a previous project… another one of my goals for 2015.. .to use what i have and not ‘save it’ for that ‘special project’

so here is my take own the first of i hope to be 12 tags of 2015. IMG_6180_2remember to jump on over to tim’s site to see his great step outs on how this is created!!

thanks for stopping by
