well, i so badly wanted one of those tim holtz messenger bags but alas they are not available to buy and as i am not a retailer or will i ever be at CHA then i had to take matters into my own hands and create my own.
first step was to have one made for me as i am not a seamstress and alas it is a challenge for me just to be able to sew on paper for crying out loud!! so an ask was done and not only did she create for me a wonderful messenger type bag but also a really super cool flower to put on it.
so here is what i started out with; my bag and all the color washes
and then came the spraying of the colour. the hardest part of the whole process was the actual decision of what i wanted the end product to look like knowing full well that the end product wasn’t going to be anything that i had in my head at this current stage.
once it was all color washed it was time for the heat set and rinse cycle. so i ironed and ironed and then threw it into the dryer and then rinsed in the tub
not that is the scary part as one sees so much ink come out of the garment that you wonder if any will be left once you are done rinsing!! but as you can see this is what it looked like once it was done it’s last cycle in the dryer
now for the decorating of the bag!! the total fun part. out came some dylusions stamps and some more color wash, a paint brush, archival ink, a bit of gesso, a couple of magnets and some tim holtz ideology.
and here is where i left it last night
and because it looks so much different during the daylight hours i thought i would post it for you to see what the actual colours look like
is it finished.. probably not. it needs a little something but i am not quite sure what… perhaps a word or another stamp or a bit more decorations… i am thinking about it for a while. totally open to suggestions though!!!!!
til next time…
HAPPY SCRAPPING!!!
