just getting in under the gun tonight. i spent the day laying around outside soaking up the much needed sun rays!
so i tried to do a spin on the ‘air mail’ challenge over at simon says stamp blog. i figured i had a brilliant idea…
i wanted to do the heir = male symbolizing the birth of baby George but i just couldn’t figure out how to do such a significant page. i didn’t want to just do his name and birth and such with no pictures so i had to figure out exactly now what i was going to do with my red and blue page with little toby in the corner
so i dug out some gesso and add a bit of white to a couple of places
but it still didn’t give me the effect that i was looking for. i needed a way to calm down the brightness of my tim holtz distress paints…. so i added a bit of gesso by hand mixed with the paints
okay.. so that is a little better but still way too bright for me!
it was time to do a complete whitewash effect over the whole page
and i am not one to waste paint so out came my brayer
my page was starting to look a little more ‘me’
yes.. i loved how the bright bold colours were now calmed down.. moving on
so out came some background stamps.. love my liz hicks unity stamps! and nothing beats rangers archival ink for solid backgrounds..nothing
so i found the page was still ‘broken’. it didn’t seem to flow so out came a bit more distress ink to see if i could do a bit more blending
now to add my quote for the ‘air mail’ theme over at Simon Says Stamp Blog
do you see it…. ERR MAIL….
i thought it was a little clever!!!!
thanks for stopping by!

Hi Diana, lovely journal page, love your background and how you toned down your colours. The touches of white add wonderful highlights and the braying is a fabulous touch. Love the quirky Stampotique image and the text is fantastic. Thanks so much for joining in the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge. Tracy x x
