hello everyone!! this month over at Art Anthology our theme was Art Appreciation…. we were to chose an artist and show our interruption of said artist….
i chose to do Maya Angelou as my artist. she wasn’t a painter, a sculpture or a musician…which are all considered ‘artists’ but to me that doesn’t mean she wasn’t an artist.. i have enjoyed learning even more about this woman through trying to decide which on of her many many quotes i wanted to use for my quote book i am creating.
okay, enough talking and now time for a few behind the scene pics of my project
for the first time in a long time i dug out my gelli plate. i wanted to have my pieces show many layers as that is what i found the most exciting reading about my ‘artist’.. the many layers of thought in each of the quotes…
so i spread a layer of velvet, spread it out with my brayer, laid a stencil and pressed my paper into it and then a second for the ghost effect… and i just kept repeating until i was happy with how it turned out. the tags i used to clean up my stencils and my craft sheet
one of the layers i used one of the new releases by Art Anthology, Stucco, which is a thick texture paste of yumminess!! i also used the dimensional crystals by Jen Starr for the dots on my flowerso here are three pages i have created to share with you today:
i hope you enjoy my take on ‘artist appreciation’ and that you take a moment to look up this great woman and chose to use one of her quotes in your art journal.
