Believe banner

hello everyone!!

today I am here to share with you a project totally originally inspired with the desire to create something for my fireplace that goes with this beauty that I found a couple weeks ago.

It has been a very very long time it seems that I have just sat in my studio and played just to play . I like probably so many others spend so much time flipping through social media and no where near enough time just being and creating….

well that is what happened to me but this time as I was flipping through I happened upon a project created by the oh so talented Zoe Hillman.  Zoe had created (and I through my stalking viewing of her page) a Halloween banner for the last three years!

you can find all the measurements here on Zoe’s page for the banner and although I didn’t use the fancy thingmajig I am still very pleased with how the shape of mine turned out using her measures!!

so with out further ado…. I started by cutting out all my banner pieces and I used the black out paper, and some older papers from previous years Christmas stashes. I also dug out my much hoarded wood embossed papers

I knew I wanted the letters to be a certain size and I was digging through my stash and came up with some older stamps that I have had forever and then you know what else I came across in the process!!! some really old grungeboard letters!!!!! I was so beyond excited over that until I realized that I didn’t have the letters I wanted BUT I did I have the negatives (hoarded saved those for a reason!) so I proceeded to trace and cut them out with my trusty not so dusty scissors.

I sprayed some iced spruce oxides and some white oxides onto those letters and let them dry…. I then coated them with clear rock candy distress crackle paste and while still wait spritzed them with the glitter duster!!

and while I was digging around in my stashes I also found some distress crack paint in picket fence so added that to some little wooden pieces that I have also been saving.

I decorated the banner bits with one of this years thinlits, pine branch which I borrowed from one of my customers as I totally am sold out and I didn’t order this one specifically for myself (yet).

so lots of sanding, distressing and adding of idea-ology bits here you have the panels

I then pieced it all together using the book rings and some old chain that I have had, you guessed it, forever!

and here it is.. the finished banner all together hanging on the fireplace……

this picture makes me think that perhaps it is time to paint the fireplace white………

until next time my friends

This is gorgeous, and love the inspiration from Zoe. I have those giant chipboard letters too, and what a great idea for using them. Good to see you back!

I’ve gone back to Zoe’s banner post several times for different seasonal banners. Works great. Love that you used the older grungeboard alphas on your banner. I still have some of those too. Time to dig them out again. thanks as always for sharing.
