flowers and butterflies oh my!

hello everyone!!

today I am here to show you a quick project that I have been working on using a few of my favourite sizzix dies and finally playing with my distress crayons!

so basically I used a smaller canvas which I covered in paper, both text and scrapbook paper, a thin layer of  gesso to blend it together,  matte medium and lots of distress crayons and that is what I started with.

I then started the whole process of covering  a few pieces of mixed media cardstockwith the same matte medium and distress crayons along with some texture paste to create Eileen Hulls Heart and Soul and Pansy flowers and of course Tim Holtz butterfly frenzy. and here you have the whole thing!butterfly flurry

the back of the flowers and leaves were simply stamped using a background script stamp. I love how the texture paste added that little bit of extra to the flowers. for the Spring Leaves, I used the two green distress crayons and blended them to give the variation in colour!

when cutting out the flurry of butterflies I had cut a few out of the paper that had the texture paste… love how they turned out too!!tim holtz butterfly

by far the Limitations stamp/die set is my  favourite combo yet. so much so a little funny story.. I have ‘lost’ mine a couple of time’s and reordered to have only found it again and ended up with 5 sets!! like is said.. my favourite!!

so here you have my newest little piece of art

nothing like a dream

it’s a smaller canvas so just the perfect size to hang in my studio or to set on my desk

if you have any questions please let me know!!

I just love what you’ve done here, Diana! These colors are just drawing me in. Very colorful yet not too “bright”. They are cheerful but earthy, such a nice effect. Love the texture paste on the flowers, too, wish I could see that in person. Thanks for sharing this on Creative Carte Blanche!
