hello everyone!!
today i am here to share with you a project that i have created for the Pillow Party using a 20″x20″ Fairfield World pillow!!!
now i have to tell you the whole story of this pillow. you see i am not really a sewist (i had to google this word because the word sewer (to sew) looks like sewer ( a way to carry off waste… umm nope. )
so when i first received my pillow i knew i was going to paint on it. i wasn’t quite sure what i was going to paint but knew it would be holiday themed…i was pretty sure i knew what i wanted to do so i put off doing the whole project until the weekend. well the weekend came and out came the pillow and i then saw that well it was an insert more than an actual pillow (see my lack of being in the sewing world totally came to light) it was later in the day and i reached out to a friend who totally agreed i needed to make a cover. this is where the fun began!
no holiday fabric to be had in my home but i had lots of canvas and a few pieces of felt. so i did what any one would do (well any crazy person like me anyway!) and i removed the canvas from the frame and made myself a pillow cover!!! all i had left to do now was to decorate it
out came a TCW stencil, some decorate fabric acrylic paints, fiskars scissors & trimmer and some brushes and i started the creating.
first i tested the colour combos on a piece of scrap canvas as i wasn’t quite sure what i wanted the finished pillow to look like. i had started out thinking blues and then was really glad i tested as i much preferred the metallic silver and black combos.
loved how the snowflakes turned out !
i then die cut a snowflake and and cut a J & Y to which i applied lots of Santa Red paint to and set it aside to dry.
i then cut out a piece of grey kunin felt to which i sewed the dried pieces to, added a button and string and then stitched this onto the front of my pillow.
and here you have it, my finished piece for this blog hop!
but the fun doesn’t end there! you have lots and lots of more holiday pillows to take a boo (or a hohoho) at !
and guess what!!! by taking a cup of coffee (or tea, or adult beverage depending on your thing) and hop on through to see all the fabulous creations you have a chance of winning a $100 Micheals gift card along with 10 pounds of Poly-Fil.
