i just couldn’t pass up the chance to not only play with a spectacular product but to submit my art for a change to be a part of wonderful design team!
so next i had to decide.. do i do a layout, a card, altered art??? do i tear or sand or ink or????? what to do.
So last night i did this layout. I used Graphic45, dew drops on the butterfly along with Wendy Vecchi’s Just Word Art stamps and a stamp from the Tim Holtz Good Thoughts stamp set.. both from Stampers Anonymous. I love the distressed look of the Core’dinations card stock when it is sanded, distressed and inked!
and then this morning i did this next one. I am a big believer in using up scraps. We all know if we admit it we save everything but really what do we do with it all. the ‘scrap box’ just keeps growing and growing right! So even though i used scraps for this layout I am also very guilty of the box growing to the point i now have a second box.
So now on to the layout. the left overs i used are mainly core’dinations bits and pieces left over from various projects. The patterned paper is bobunny time piece set. I particularly love the flower.I used the tattered floral die from sizzix and the graphic45 black magic collection clock. i love it. i sanded it, sprayed it with my mini mister and then squished it. Once it was partially dried i straightened it out and then pieced it together along with a flower i cut out of a piece of cork
and finally i was able to work on this one which is one of my favorite pieces i have ever done. i wanted to show the versatility of using the core’dinations anywhere. So for this piece i started out by covering the 6×6 canvas with gesso. once it was dried i used Claudine Hellmuths dab of yellow acrylic paint mixed with a spray of water and covered the canvas with the yellow. once it was dried i then painted in a mixture of the dab of yellow and fired brick distress stain to make a nice shade of orange. i swiped that across the canvas in every which way. Once that was dry i stamped on the birds with archival black. then it was time to work on the cardstock. i took a piece and ran it through my big kick with the pumpkin embossing folder from Tim Holtz Alternation series with Sizzix but instead of sanding the raised areas i chose to do something a little different. i swiped across the back of the paper with vintage photo distress ink. i then took cut and dry pen nibs and my distress pads and coloured in the pumpkin and vines. i was in love with it. i then took my mini mister and sprayed a light coat of water over the whole thing. once dry i attached it to my canvas.
now the contrast was too big so out came sky blue and a bit of water and i painted the canvas to tone it down. i added the stamp and then stamped it again on a piece of water colour paper and attached to the canvas.
for a finishing touch i added the mini bottle (please pick me) and what is a mini bottle without a flower. So i punched out with a simple hole punch a few circles, folded them onto each other, attached to a paper clip which i clipped and then stuck into the bottle. the leaves are sticky back canvas. I really enjoyed doing this piece and have it hanging already!
and that i need to let you know is my 24 hours of Creative Frenzy over the Core’dination Design team submission!
so til next time…
HAPPY SCRAPPING!!!
