hello everyone
have you ever thought about the importance of a needle and thread… how these two small instruments have mended so many things in our lives…
tears in the knees of our favourite jeans, the hem in our skirts and pants, the mending of a screen door, the stuffing of a tattered teddybear….the boo boos on our / in our bodies…..
I created this piece awhile ago and totally forgot about it until I happened upon the pictures in my phone so I thought I would quickly share with you.
so I started out by cutting out one of Eileen Hulls Needle Books and covering it with old pattern paper and some no sew tape stuff (can you guess I am not a sewer!!)
I fused this to the needlebook with my heat tool
I then covered the whole thing using some archival ink in coffee. I wanted to be sure that the ink doesn’t come off when folks are handling this.
then I ran it through my vagabond using one of the border stitchlits by Eileen Hull. because I didn’t want it to move on my plate I taped it down
how cool is this.. now I have a perfect spot to stitch!
because I wanted this to be special I dug out one of my antique spools with the thread still on it and used that to stitch my cover
now it was a matter of decorating and here are some pictures of my finished project!
i cut a little wooden spool in half and wrapped with the thread
love the antique thread on this piece
the buttons were given to me from a collection a friend had had for yearsi had so much fun creating this little piece!! it is travelling along with Eileen during her Papertrails!!
thanks for stopping by and i hope to hear what you think!
