Photo Paper vs Ranger Gloss

so today i thought i would take a few minutes to make a couple of Christmas cards.

when i got home yesterday after teaching the lovely ladies at my LSS, we did 12 Christmas tags/cards, i unpacked right away. that is something i don’t normally do and then find myself looking for things, remembering they are packed, and so starts the hunt.

anyway sorry for going on and on… i should have just said whilst i was unpacking and putting things away after yesterday’s class i came across an old multi coloured ink pad that prompted a memory. you see years and years ago, my first ever card class i believe, i had made this really cool card with a brayer (which is why i have one in my stash) and an ink pad. so today i did an experiment which has probably been done a million times but the first for me.

so here is what i started with…

and here are my results
Polaroid Photo Paper                                                                  Ranger Gloss Paper

there is a huge difference between using these papers. with the photo paper the ink dried right away so didn’t allow for any movement of the ink on the paper. the gloss paper on the other hand stayed wet for quite some time so i was able to move and blend it better. and being the instant gratification kind of girl, i of course had to hurry it along with the heat tool so i could continue my experiment.

so there you have it.. the difference between using the two different products and the result of each. i much prefer the Ranger paper but with that said i am not going to throw my photo paper cards in the garbage either. someone will like them i am sure. as well now seeing them in photo’s i probably should have stamped the snowflake with the white archival ink and the words with black. next batch!

til next time…

HAPPY SCRAPPING!!!
