hello everyone!!!!
today I am here to share with you a project using two of my favorite Eileen Hull Dies, the Bird and the Vase along with the flower textured impressions folder. I love the feel of the paper leather sheets and use them quite often when creating projects as they take lots of lots of medium; both wet and dry
so I started out by embossing a sheet of the paper leather and then die cut it from the vase die. I then applied the Prima patina effect to the vase
I loved how it turned out but by applying all the medium to it I lost the look of the textured impression folder so once it was completely dry I ran it through again and then added a bit of the brass on top for highlights… this was exactly what I was looking for!
I then assembled my vase as per the instructions. now I just needed to decide what I wanted to do with my vase
i decided that i wanted it to be a spring project to sit in my entry way for when my students/customers come to visit so now it was time to figure out exactly how i wanted to do that….. and that is when i decided i needed to dig out my Christmas balls….. WHAT!!!!!
LOL..well you see i was creating away in the studio after running 16km and needed a Styrofoam ball to fit inside the vase to hold some flowers up but i wasn’t getting out of my comfy clothes to go out to the store so i had to come up with something that i already had.. that is when i discovered a regular size bulb will fit really nicely inside the vase
so now i was time to create my spring time symbol, the robin…. so out came my paper leather and Eileen’s color box Blends and her bird die and i was off and paintingi created/painted two of these and then glued them together.. love the blend ability of these paints!!now it was time to assemble everything and as usual when i get creating, i forget to take all my pictures but i am sure you can forgive me right!
it was just a matter of gluing the bulb into the vase, adding some ribbon and metal bits. a bit of crackle glaze to the top ball and here you have it
thanks so much for stopping by today and welcoming spring with me. i hope you have been taking the time to create along the way!
until next time my friends,
diana

Oh my word! First, I didn’t know about that bird die…love it. Second, what a project! LOVE the addition of the cool orb! Happy Spring!
Diana- the texture on the vase is amazing- it looks like verdigris! The inked bird is adorable. And yes, why make a trip to the store when you have everything you need on hand 🙂
So very clever of you to use the ornament balls – it looks much like a weather vane with your beautifully sponged robin on top! Great rusting patina on your embossed vase – a lovely project using Eileen’s dies Diana! Julia xx
