Mirrored box

first off i am so very excited to be a part of the  Artist on the Block Design team!!

i instantly fell in love with Eileen Hull/ Sizzix XL Scoreboard Die from afar and couldn’t wait to meet up with Eileen and Amy in person during my recent trip! loved that our paths crossed in real life and that i was able to get my hands on these little cubes of yummy!!

so to start with know that sometimes i get really long winded and LOVE creating. i sometimes totally get caught up in the moment and forget to take pictures along the way. i did try this time so go grab your liquid of choice and enjoy the ride!

so to start with i covered a piece of Sizzix mat board with some of tim’s eclectic fabric using Rangers collage glue stick.

i then ran it through my vagabond twice ( you need two pieces) but one time using the heart & label set die by Eileen Hull.

my next step was deciding which bits and bobs of Tim’s idea-ology line i wanted to part with. yes i have issues using things i have collected but i am trying!!

once it was decided i just kept on moving. using up things i have been hoarding is hard but i really wanted this project to be all it could be so out came the mirrored sheets which i carefully cut and stuck to the entire inside of my box (more on that later!)

now it was time to work on the outside a  bit. first i die cut some grungeboard  and some mirrored paper using my new Sizzix Chevron die.  i painted the grungeboard with some distress paints and let it dry prior to sanding and then using my distress ink and blending tool to give it the aged look.

next i covered the inside of tissue wrap with multi medium and applied it to a mini canvas

next i took my drill press and put a nice little hole in my label pull

 after applying a remnant rub directly to the fabric i attached the label pull over the words and then filled in with glossy accents to highlight the words. i also applied some foundations to the bottom of my box here using hot glue

now it was time to create a charm to hang from my box. i cut a small circle out of the mirrored sheet, applied a rub on and then placed it into the charm.

to the back of the box i added some more rubs and the charm. the charm is attached using one of the idea-ology screw eyes. this is my first time using these (remember i am the hoarder of all things tim!) and i must say they were easier to use then i expected

to the sides i added  some rubs and the chevron which i then placed in some various pieces of the mirror

as a final step i had  added the canvas, the jute string along with the word band and a clock key to the top.

so i started this post by telling you how much in love i am with these little bundles but i need to share how much i LOVE LOVE LOVE this months tag that Tim did.   i so used it for my inspiration to create this little beauty. last weekend we made a beauty of a canvas in his class so i decided to think outside the ‘tag’ and the canvas and created this box.
