so a while back i was browsing sites.. one of my favorite pass times…. and i came across a piece of art that Shelly Hickox created here. she is an amazing grungy girl and i love everything that she creates. please do stop by her blog and take a boo at all her ‘dirtiness’. but warning.. set a timer because you will be lost in her site!
so i had written her back some time ago, in October i believe, to ask if it was okay if i recreated her canvas for my dad for a Christmas gift and she kindly said i could use her piece for inspiration!!! well needless to say i didn’t get it done for Christmas but hey his birthday is right around the corner
so here is what i did. i started with a piece of board, covered it in mod podge and layered a piece of tissue paper from the fish and chips store in PEI. next came a layer of color wash and a bit of texture paste followed by more color wash and then left to dry. wasn’t quite sure where to go next so then out came the distress embossing powder followed by a layer of beeswax. For the clock face i used the die covered with black embossing powder and then while still hot sprinkled some distress powder and finished setting.
now remember my word for the year, less… well a part of that was buying less but using more of the stuff i have. i am a hoarder of all things tim but out came the numbers, my little time hammer and i hammered away at the numbers, the brads as well as the clock pieces.
here is my finished project:
as always just click on picture for a closer look!
thank you very much Shelly for all your inspiration!!
til next time…
HAPPY SCRAPPING!!!
