art journalling – for Cheryl Waters

so today i am posting a page for Cheryl she was diagnosed with  Breast Cancer in 2012 and is fighting a strong battle with all her family and friends standing beside her. i don’t know her but do know how hard of a battle that blasted Cancer can be. i have seen a really dear friend go through cancer and beat it, i have a sweet friend whose brother is battling now as well as a family member who is battling for all she is worth. my prayers go out to each of them as well as all those i don’t know.

so though i don’t know Cheryl.. and really i don’t know Liz Hicks either but had read about her write up and had asked her to send her print to me.

i studied it and tried to figure out how to alter it. do i print it off in a big frame and alter the whole print, do i print it off and just use the words…. what do i do.

i have some before, during and after photos but for the life of me i am not able to find them right now and my computer is so not co-operating with me so instead of my continued search i thought i would share with you what my final creation is

for Cheryl

to me it is all about the seasons, the stages, the passage of one moment in life to another. how strong an ‘old oak tree’ can be. we use them to tie yellow ribbons around, waiting for ‘the day’ a dear one came home from their battle. i used the print from Liz to create a door and behind my door is a message to all from pooh and piglet about today being our favorite day.

i believe every day is a day to cherish and to be thankful for. i pray that we all have many many days.

i am sending Cheryl and all those out there all my strength in this little page. thanks Liz for sharing this with me.
