Mixed Media Monthly Challenge #43 – mid month in believe

hello everyone!

so can you believe it is already the middle of December…holy moly crazy right! Christmas is right around the corner!!!

i wanted to share with you today a quick little project i have created for the mid month prompt for Mixed Media Monthly Challenge

here is our badge that you need to use in your posting if you are playing along

No automatic alt text available.

remember at the first of the month i created a box top to hold a special project…. well this is the cover to the book of that special project i have been working on.

i started out by covering it with platinum crackle paste and then i pressed into that while it was still wet various pieces of chipboard from Boozybear

i love squishing my chipboard into wet paste

i added a bit of extra grit paste to the mix, then left it to dry

i love how it looks the next day

then it was time to add bits of colour.. or lots of bits of colour

now i wanted to age it but i also wanted to keep with the same colour theme as the cover to my box. so i started out by adding some Walnut Ink sprays in varying colours along with some DecoArt sprays.

i just kept adding and taking and spraying water and well made a few layers of wetness and then i had to set it aside to dry

once it was dry i added a few little words and a bit of spray. here you have my final piece/cover of a special book

i want this book to be a special place for special moments….. now to start adding them

thanks for stopping by. don’t forget to join in on the fun and create something for the Mixed Media Challenge. all the details can be found HERE (https://mixedmediamc NULL.blogspot NULL.ca/2017/11/mixed-media-monthly-challenge-43-believe NULL.html).

Mixed Media Monthly Challenge #43 – believe

hello everyone!!

can you believe it is December already!! holy this year sure has flown

let’s get to this month’s challenge. i fell in love with the badge for this months challenge and i had so many ideas that i didn’t even know where to start

No automatic alt text available.

until i opened up my package from this months collaborator, Boozybear.blogspot (https://www NULL.etsy NULL.com/ca/shop/boozybear?ref=l2-shopheader-name)and i saw the scribble frame… i knew exactly what i wanted to ‘Believe’

they have the most unique chipboard shapes and stencils to inspire your mixed media projects. i am thinking i may have to put in an order or two… and one of my favourite things … they are Canadian made!!

i (https://scontent NULL.fyqm1-1 NULL.fna NULL.fbcdn NULL.net/v/t1 NULL.0-9/24296642_10212682427470184_7950849166791946909_n NULL.jpg?oh=998ce495aaeff2a25f6fdbf0b31533b2&oe=5ACCE0CD) started out my project using a box i had obtained containing my all new favourite face products Roden & Fields.. it was a perfect box i just couldn’t throw out. i stared by covering the top with a think layer of clear gesso.

once that was dry i used a stencil and some crackle paste to cover the top of my box except where my frame was going. this i had covered with a piece of paper

while it was still wet i sprinkled on a few embossing powder and then set it aside to dry.

now it was time to put into play my idea using the scribble frame. i embossed one with white embossing powder and the other with the enchanted gold embossing powder… my sun and moon

i then needed to decide how to finish off the top of my box. i painted a used frame of sorts and coloured my stones using metallic alcohol inks

now it was time for assembly. i placed everything on top of my box and then mixed up a couple batches of ice resin and filled first a layer inside the frame, added the word believe and then i spread it out to the edges of my box…

once it was all dry i added a couple of butterflies and here you have my completed project which will hold a special book

this is a picture of me on the morning of my 50th… my wish was to go to be in a place to witness the sunset on my 49th and the sunrise on my 50th… so in this picture, in this moment in my life i literally felt the moon on my back and the sun on my face… this box is going to hold some special moments in my life….. more on that later this month!!!

Mixed Media Monthly Challenge #42 – silhouettes

hello everyone!

today i am kicking off the month sharing with you the latest challenge from Mixed Media Monthly (https://l NULL.facebook NULL.com/l NULL.php?u=https%3A%2F%2Fmixedmediamc NULL.blogspot NULL.com%2F2017%2F11%2Fmixed-media-monthly-challenge-42 NULL.html&h=ATNPs36fzaLmoibEicM5WrJIz-vsVJCfaVfemoixeDgUluBZHgeh1PtTrJzn3IkTO4dCXyeT91-LlR4a0bjvK2hf5w_BFvtwQQ62OuC7hoSZugbfuzrClfc2mCKY2Vm88J8yGVW1UHAiBaEtN4qg4Fyis6Xk5_SzVNbQ9iCMODFwsXbUYWh3HeBtnmVmAN4Hc2eneuu_BzLWGOS-uIN3ImgufWrLLH2SiO-j5050CK9rE1n_pEkciTtDLbjO-Dq5vrN9JnNaFOuZ_ZRqsWGVXw__8sVFNSA) and this one is all about Silhouettes!!

No automatic alt text available.and we are collaborating with Visible Images stamps.  they are a company based in the UK and their stamp and stencil designs are unique, original and different! Arty images, inspiring quotes, and brilliant backgrounds for cards, journal pages and mixed media pieces!

Visible Image

and i was so lucky to receive from them the No Space for Dreams (https://visibleimage NULL.co NULL.uk/product/no-space-for-dreams/) set. i fell in love with the stamp ‘dreams’ and i wanted it as a constant reminder so decided i need to make something a little unique with it other than an art journal page.

Although these companies have provided me with some product to create this project the opinions I share are solely my own.

i made this quick and inspiring coaster simply by stamping the silhoutte using black distress paint onto a sheet of watercolour paper. once the paint was dry i used some colour burst and added a bit of colour. i love how the randomness turned out perfectly!

i then stamped the quote using embossing ink and sprinkled some antiquities weathered wood powder and heat set. i then let the whole thing sit for a day prior to glueing it down to a coaster and then covering it with Ice Resin.

and that is that! hope you have enjoyed my project and that you take the time to make one of your own and join in with us this month at Mixed Media Monthly.  be sure to include the  graphic in your blog post in order for it qualify for your chance to win this months prize sponsored by Visible Image!

until next time my friends

Mixed Media Monthly Challenge #41- mid month colour

hello everyone!

i am back again to share with you another project i created for this months’ Mixed Media Monthly Challenge (https://mixedmediamc NULL.blogspot NULL.ca/2017/10/mixed-media-monthly-challenge-41-color NULL.html)

No automatic alt text available.

Once again our October Sponsor is Rubber Dance Stamps (http://www NULL.rubberdance NULL.com/) from Norway!

(https://1 NULL.bp NULL.blogspot NULL.com/-KQtiNQAsf0Y/WdA-SHcSW0I/AAAAAAAAMV4/DJ6JfjTLnVI5vGeRIyU0V3q0j3heTDcggCLcBGAs/s1600/2016-Rubber-Dance-logo-300x173 NULL.jpg)
Our lucky random winner will win a $30 gift certificate to the Rubber Dance Online Store!!!

for my project i chose to do another 6×6 tile using the same colour theme as last months project but with a splash of orange (egyptian gold actually)

so here is what i did. i stared out using a stencil and some light&fluffy modelling paste. i did the 6×6, leaving the centre of my square out

once that layer was dry i then lined the stencil up after placing a piece of chipboard in the centre of my square and then added some modelling paste to  my chipboard.

once everything was dry i started adding some sprays.

for the centre piece i added a splash of white spray and let it leak through the crevices to lighten up the centre of my piece

now here are my two pieces

and as you can see they one up perfectly and i love the two different colours

next it was time to work on my centrepiece… now for this piece remember we are doing  a product partnership with Rubber Dance Stamps an i am using the funny fungi.  i stamp it onto red cardstock with black archival ink and then quickly heat embossed it with clear powder.  i then filled all the dots with glossy accents and went back to the white and using a pin i picked at it in order to try to give it some texture

then it was time for the finishing touches…. the spray of gold and for the centre of my flower i chose to put in a tiger eye gemstone

here you have it my finished piece

thanks for stopping. don’t forget to upload your creation HERE (https://mixedmediamc NULL.blogspot NULL.ca/2017/10/mixed-media-monthly-challenge-41-color NULL.html) for your chance to win this months prize, a $30 gift certificate to the Rubber Dance online store!!!

don’t forget you must include the Mixed Media Monthly Challenge #41 imagine to qualify!!

until next time my friends

mixed media monthly challenge #40 – mid month vintage challenge

Image may contain: text

okay now that those details are over let’s get into how i created my page

i was searching through some shelves for something, who knows what, and came across one of of Ken Olivers mixed media boards and my walnut ink kit and that is what triggered my idea!

so i started out by applying some crackle paste through the dragonfly stencil and i set that aside to dry. once it was dry i started using my sprays…once my dragonfly was sprayed with the terra cotta i covered it and then applied the other sprays on the outside edges.

then it was all about letting it dry. i loved how it turned out… and then i had this brilliant idea!!  why not add a few gems to highlight the dragonfly!! so out came my crystals

and i layered them into my dragonfly

i love all the crackles on this piece… it truly reminds me of the crackles you see in old pieces of ceramic…

i am wondering if perhaps i should layer a think layer of resin to preserve this piece…thinking…

thanks for stopping by.  don’t forget to play along!!
