Cherished Layouts

hello everyone!! i am here today to show you a couple of layouts i created using Ken Oliver’s Studio  (http://www NULL.scrapbook NULL.com/store/pp-kn05930 NULL.html)paper collection

WAIT A MINUTE!!!! did i say layouts

why yes, yes i did.

before i dove headfirst into the mixed media world i, like so many others, were scrapbookers. i loved documenting moments in my life with layouts and as i have had a couple of those moments lately that i wanted to remember i thought to myself why not!

so they are very simple layouts but with such perfect paper!

KO scrapbook layout moments

i used a mix of texture paste and inks to create the colour for the “moments’ from an Art Anthology stencil. the family is a sizzix die and the stamping is using Ken’s Pegz! KO scrapbook momentsthe papers were all cut out using Eileen Hull’s die by Sizzix and then i stitched around the layout and the pictures.

i pretty much did the same thing for the next layout except this time i used circles from a Sizzix die

shivering songs layout

it was so nice to just play with paper and not get my hands covered…but then again i did manage to get some ink on my hands whilst i was edging all my pieces with Lamp Black click it ink pads (http://www NULL.scrapbook NULL.com/store/pp-kn05879 NULL.html)!!

i hope you have taken the time to play over the last little while…whether that be with some mixed media such as color burst or with some old fashion where most of us started paper!!

be still

hello everyone!! i am here today just for a short visit

i wanted to share with you today a mini burlap canvas (http://www NULL.inspirationemporium NULL.com/TH93062 NULL.HTML) i created for my little sister.
she loves dragonflies (http://www NULL.inspirationemporium NULL.com/659579 NULL.HTML) as much as i love butterflies and after commenting on this canvas on my Facebook page i decided i would make her her very own!

she had requested a blue one so i brought out my Art Anthology velvets and sorbet’s and coloured my dragonflydragonfly closeupit turned out really well but i wasn’t quite happy with the colour of the wings so i added a bit of staz on glaze (https://www NULL.imaginecrafts NULL.com/stazon-studio-glaze-display-set) to the wings.. now it was perfect to go add to the canvas.

be still canvas

i sure hope she likes it!!!
thanks for stopping by!

Artist Appreciation 2

hi everyone. I am here to share some more pages with my love of Maya Angelou quotes..  i had posted some during a recent challenge with Art Anthology (http://www NULL.artanthologyinc NULL.com) in January and just couldn’t stop creating…

so here is is…just a quick show and tell and i am then off to play create some more!!!

“History, despite its wrenching pain cannot be unloved but if faced with courage, need not be lived again.”

faced with courage

“Never make someone a priority when all you are to them is an option”

priority or an option

“Love recognizes no barriers. It jumps hurdles, leaps fences, penetrates walls to arrive at its final destination full of hope.”

love no barriers

“First best thing is falling in love. Second best thing is being in love. Least best is falling out of love. But any of it is better than never having been in love.”
falling in love by three

she was such a wise and thoughtful woman..deep and strong and thought provoking.

do you have a favourite ‘quote’ artist?

hello everyone!!! do you know what today is!!!

IT’S MY BIRTHDAY!!! and as well my turn to post over at Art Anthology and i thought what better to create for such a day then a piece featuring my parents

you see pictures are very rare of my mom and even more rare is a photo of the two of them together.  i have this photo, which is a photocopy of a copy of the original.. i think that is right… so it was a one shot deal to do something special with it… so let’s see the process

this is a somewhat heavy picture post as you will see that my background turns out nothing like it started out as!!!

first i started off using a canvas that i have had started some time ago which i had covered with colorations to which i added some texture paste in the corners

IMG_6116i then needed to decide what pieces i wanted to add to the canvas. i want to start using what i have… and i mean that this time..so grabbed some odds and ends and started building components.IMG_6250i then decided that the canvas was too bright  and i wasn’t a fan of the lines i had created a long time ago in the gesso….so thought i would layer a piece of tissue paper over the top to see if that would help

IMG_6251okay… so i wasn’t quite sure at this point but onward i go..i started the whole laying of pieces onto the canvas

mixed media middleokay now we were getting somewhere….but wait a minute …. i didn’t quite like the colour so added some more colorations…

IMG_6257okay.. not sure that was a good idea but i dried it and continued on…

so this wasn’t too bad… i figured i just needed to add a bit of colour to the bar pieces to start everything blending together

IMG_6265so here i added some copper to my picture frames; they represent my siblings and i

IMG_6266and while they were drying i started assembling my canvas using my glue gun

IMG_6268and you will see this is where i decided that indeed i needed to change the background colours.

IMG_6269and i just kept adding and adding colorations as i went along.. sometimes even taking a baby wipe and some gesso to moving  the colour to where i need it to be

IMG_6273almost there!! here is a close up of really wet and after a baby wipe!

before after

and here now  are a couple pictures of my final piece

DLP – challenge five

today i am here to show you my take on this weeks challenge over at Art to the 5th (http://www NULL.arttothe5th NULL.com/).

i started off using a mop up page i had created while creating a project for Art Anthology. i loved the stone effects used through the brick stencil and am so glad i save these pieces. it is the perfect background start for this weeks challenge.

here is my page for the week!!! same as always, a place to record my thoughts are on the back of the dated page!

dip week 5

hope you are playing along as well
