this month Eileen Hull Inspiration team (http://www NULL.eileenhull NULL.com) has been challenged to kickstart the holiday season; that could be Autumn, Halloween, Christmas, whatever tickles your fancy!!
if you know me I am not a Halloween girl but I have to say I am so getting to be. I love the challenge of doing something that I wouldn’t normally do, working with a palette of colours I wouldn’t normally use…challenging ourselves sometimes brings surprising results!
so for this weeks project I chose to use the flower vase (http://www NULL.sizzix NULL.com/catalogsearch/result/?q=eileen+hull+vase) and simply cover it with paper.. pretty easy and pain free stuff!
but okay then what do i do with it….. and as it was sitting on my desk, knocked over by one of my lovely furry friends it hit me!!! this would make a perfect lamp shade!
and here is what i created!
and here is the still picture! isn’t it fun using a die for something other than what it was meant to be used for!!
i hope you have taken a few minutes to pop on over to Eileen’s site (http://www NULL.eileenhull NULL.com) to see what the rest of the inspiration team has brought you this month! lots of holiday projects to be seen!
this month at Eileen Hull Designs the inspiration team is bringing you all sorts of ideas to help decorate those special occasions…
so far we have seen a beautiful centre piece by Tracy Evans (http://craftaddicts-tracyevans NULL.blogspot NULL.ca/2016/07/sizzix-party-ideas-with-eileen-hull-dies NULL.html)and a picnic organizer by Pam Bray (http://www NULL.pammejoscrapbookflair NULL.com/2016/07/by-seaside-picnic-organizer-with-eileen NULL.html) from her and this week i am here to show you how to turn your canister die into a simple yet quick candle holder
so to start with, if you remember last month we were working with Rendre paper and yes, i tested it again. this time using a variety of color burst (http://www NULL.scrapbook NULL.com/store/pp-kn06117 NULL.html) brights and lots of water. love the color variations one can get by using color burst.. it is always like a party waiting to happen!!
once the paper was dry i flipped and did the opposite colours on the back side .. so warms and cools.. with the Rendre paper it did not seep through so this was a total love relationship for me!!
and then when the final dry was done i used Eileens Daisy wreath (http://www NULL.sizzix NULL.com/661423/sizzix-textured-impressions-embossing-folder-daisy-wreath)texture impression folder and the and the Pansy (http://www NULL.sizzix NULL.com/661109/sizzix-bigz-die-flower-pansy)die to create my flowers.
then I created my canisters (http://www NULL.sizzix NULL.com/659877/sizzix-scoreboards-xl-die-canister) using matboard and the same texture impression folder.
here they are!! i love the richness of the colorburst flowers on the plain white embossed mat board!
and here are a few close ups of those flowers!!
how beautiful are these containers.. they are going to be perfect sitting on a table filled with some sand and a few tealights during my next pool party!
what have you got planned for this summer!! what kind of party decor are you making!! please do share with us on Facebook and on Eileen’s page!
today i am here to share with you my final piece in my yoga series. this one features me!
so i decided this time that i wanted my background to be a more subtle colour with the focus being on the actual chakras. so let’s get started with the show and tell!
so i started with a few of the ‘warm’ color burst colours onto my canvas
I then made my picture I wanted to use for this piece and placed the chakras in spot. I traced the spots onto my canvas and using color burst and a paint brush painted them in place
to seal these so I could put my figure and not in I used some liquid glass (http://decoart NULL.com/mixedmedia/liquid-glass) to protect them
but then I had another idea….why not make the whole background my chakra colours and so the adding of layers began!!
i love layering my color burst and heat blasting it with my gun!!
now it was time to paint on my figure using some black gesso (http://decoart NULL.com/mixedmedia/gesso)
now here is my piece set aside waiting to dry
i then inked the edges of my piece using the black gesso and once again set it aside to dry..
the final step was to add that layer of Ice Resin to my piece. here it s finished
and here they are, all hung up in my room!!
thanks for following along with me the last few months! it has meant a lot to have you come and view and play with me. don’t forget you can also find me on facebook (https://www NULL.facebook NULL.com/missusgmoments/), instagram (https://www NULL.instagram NULL.com/dianahetherington/) and twitter (https://twitter NULL.com/missusgmoments)!!
i am here to share with you a very quick and easy banner to create for any occasion!i have made mine to hang in my new room downstairs … if it ever gets finished!!!
so to begin my project i decided to use the ATC cards as i absolutely love the weight of them when creating with color burst (http://www NULL.scrapbook NULL.com/store/pp-kn06354 NULL.html?w=color+burst)! i painted on the colour that corresponds to the chakras. i then cut out 7 circles from the ATC cards
as i had already printed out the 7 chakra symbols i wanted to be sure that they would stick to the circles i used Stick it (http://www NULL.scrapbook NULL.com/store/pp-sk-310 NULL.html?w=stick+it). i just pressed the symbol onto the sheet and cut out and then pressed into the centre of my circles. it was so easy and no glue stuck to my fingers!! loved it!!
I then traced around each after they were stuck with a black udi pen
i then used my liquid metals (http://www NULL.scrapbook NULL.com/store/pp-kn06613 NULL.html?w=color+burst)and applying using a paint brush to the cardboard. once dry i sewed the edges as well as strung them together
and here you have it.. i plan on using this as a sign to ‘do not disturb’ when i am downstairs meditating!!
would love to hear your thoughts.. leave me a comment and let me know what you have been creating lately with your color burst!
hello everyone!! today I am here to share with you a simple little project I created for the Emerald Creek Dares (http://blog NULL.emeraldcreek NULL.ca/)challenge!
Remembrance Day is a day to honour and remember all those who were affected, injured, or gave their lives in service to their country.
there is nothing more symbolic then the poppy & Flanders Field so for my project for this Emerald Creek challenge i wanted to do a simple, meaningful project.
i started with a sheet of this cardstock which i stamped a script using watermark and once dry i inked the sheet with distress inks.
i then cut it to size to fit inside one of the letter tray boxes which i attached to the back of the frame using tissue tape
i then created a poppy using this flower die (http://www NULL.sizzix NULL.com/657118/sizzix-bigz-die-flowers-3-d-2) byEileen Hulls for Sizzix
i then applied a lot of distress sprays to the flower. once it was dry i embossed it using this doily texture fade (https://www NULL.simonsaysstamp NULL.com/product NULL.aspx?id=316491) and then shaped it into a poppy!
love how it turned out.
i then took one of the Emerald Creek Anchor Charms (http://www NULL.emeraldcreek NULL.ca/Anchor-Charms-6-pkg-p/ch-anchors NULL.htm), which i had ordered in error but figured i would use some day, and turned it into a mini cross of sorts!!!
so here is my final project…. simple and meaningful… a reminder to always remember what has been sacrificed for our freedom
don’t forget to play along for your chance to win some goodies from Emerald Creek. lest we forget…x
