I am here to share with you a little project I made to share with some fellow employees. We have a group at work, Women’s Leadership Development, and we met usually once a month to discuss various topics, book club, have guest speakers, meditate, encourage.. you get the picture
well I think it is very important that as women we celebrate ourselves and share and encourage and uplift…. soooooo I thought, what could I do to help celebrate with them.. and here is what I came up with .. quote cards
it started out by playing with the new oxide colours.. oh be still my heart how I love them… I then decided the sheets were just too pretty to leave laying in a pile so off I went to visit my Sizzix corner and that is when it hit me… Eileen Hull’s recipe card die (http://www NULL.sizzix NULL.com/659870/sizzix-bigz-die-recipe-card-label)would be a cute size and fit perfectly in the caddy (http://www NULL.sizzix NULL.com/657123/sizzix-scoreboards-xl-die-bag-caddy)!
so I cut and coloured and decorated with some Dina Wakley stamps (Ranger) and Tim Holtz quote stamps (Stampers Anonymous), a bit of tissue tape (Ranger/Dina) and a bit more oxide ink
I cut one of the cards up to decorate the front of the caddy bag (http://www NULL.sizzix NULL.com/657123/sizzix-scoreboards-xl-die-bag-caddy). the caddy is created using blackmat board and stenciled oxides… pretty cool effect don’t you think!
and there you have it.. a cute little project to share with my fellow team members. I went ahead and laminated the recipe quote cards so they would last hopefully lots of handling
my hope is that they draw a card and reflect a moment on the quote…..that it means something to them and perhaps when they are finished with it can leave it for someone else to find… or perhaps exchange with each other later on in the year.. so many possibilities…..
thanks for stopping by and happy International Women’s day to you!
i am here today to share with you one of what i am sure to be many pieces i am sure to be creating from the beautiful photo’s from my wonderful ‘turning 50’ trip. it was a trip that i had imagined but never thought it would be possible.. seeing the sunset on my last night being in my 40’s and the sunrise on my first day of my 50’s in one of the most beautiful awe inspiring no words can describe place on earth.
for this my first project, i started out by layering tissue paper and other bits onto a framed panel (https://www NULL.simonsaysstamp NULL.com/product/Tim-Holtz-Idea-ology-MINI-FRAMED-PANELS-Structures-TH93582-TH93582?currency=USD) using matte medium. i then used many different things from paint, to sprays, clear texture paste, crackle and vintage mediums. i coloured using my distress crayons, archival inks and some more paint until i was happy with the background.
i added some remnant rubs in both black and gold both on the background, the frame and the card to give it some added depth. the ’50’ is from a birthday card i received and were so perfect from me that i wanted to be able to keep them in a piece. so i embossed and debossed and inked and stained and rubbed and sanded until i got it to the place i wanted it to be.the wings represent the love of life both in the here and now as well as for those gone before me. i am a very blessed soul who does love life and never take for granted every breath i take. the three little pearls are there to represent those ladies in my life who went before me and who if it wasn’t for them i wouldn’t be who i am… my mom, my nanny and my aunt ruby.
i truly hope you all have a wonderfully blessed and happy week!
holy wow! I can’t believe that yet another year of Tim’s Tags has come and gone! the 12 tags of 2016-remix (http://timholtz NULL.com/12-tags-of-2016-december/)has been so full of inspiration and revisiting the techniques from years gone pass makes me realize how many things i have done and forgotten, and also makes me realize how far i have come!!
I know I am not the only one who loves to look back and see what each tag/technique we have done gives us the inspiration we need sometimes when that mojo is missing. I personally have mine all hung above my work space and literally look at them each time I am stuck. all the techniques can be transformed into an art journal page, a canvas, a scrapbook layout, a card etc….
so here is my final tag for 2016. as i was creating my tag this month i wanted to end my 2016 with a thought…. ‘cherish the moments’ is how one really needs to live each and every day so that is what i went with
and a few close ups!
i didn’t follow exactly as tim did but that is what i believe he encourages us to do every month….recreate using his techniques but make it our own…..thank you so much tim for all your inspiration (http://timholtz NULL.com/blog/)though the years.
i am here today to quickly share with you all my version of this months Tim’s Twelve Tags – Remix 2016 (http://timholtz NULL.com/12-tags-of-2016-november/). for all the step outs and the hows to’s drop on over to his site and following along!! you have one day left to post your take!!
for me this month was a reminder of how much i love to just lay a sheet of remnant rubs (https://www NULL.simonsaysstamp NULL.com/product/Tim-Holtz-Idea-ology-GILDED-HOLIDAYS-Remnant-Rubs-TH93250--TH93250-) on a tag and let be what happens after a quick rub..the randomness of the whole thing is what makes a wonderful background for the tag or art journal page and i love that
so here is my take:
i chose to use the white remnant rubs as i am in full Christmas mode in the studio preparing for an upcoming class and with the forecast of some snow i thought i would do the whole winter theme… i used the snowflake from the blueprint christmas (https://www NULL.simonsaysstamp NULL.com/product/Tim-Holtz-Cling-Rubber-Stamps-CHRISTMAS-BLUEPRINT-CMS135-46738?currency=USD) stamp set along with an idea-ology piece and the back ground the snowflake from the layered snowflake (https://www NULL.simonsaysstamp NULL.com/product/Tim-Holtz-Sizzix-Bigz-Die-and-Texture-Fades-LAYERED-SNOWFLAKE-660040-660040TH) die
i loved using the metal sheets as the background for my believe…shiny things make me happy!!hope you all enjoyed creating your latest piece and that you have uploaded your projects for all to enjoy!
see you next month with some more pieces from me
i am here today to share my take on Tim’s Twelve Tags – Remix 2016 (http://timholtz NULL.com/12-tags-of-2016-october/). for all the step outs and the hows to’s drop on over to his site and following along!!
this month i had the best time ever creating my tag.. want to know why??? well you see Auntie Carol was here visiting over the weekend and we were down in the studio thinking what could we work on and i asked her how about Tim’s tag as i hadn’t done mine yet this month and it was a fun one to do!!!
so out came the ephemera, the foil, the die, paint and alcohol inks! and with lots of coffee and a few laughs here is what we came up with…
we pretty much followed Tim’s tag instructions for this month. i love that i had the opportunity to share my love of Tim’s tags with her!
i love love love the creepiness of my zombie!
i especially loved the distress crayons on the crazing!! it is so much fun.. addictive almost!!!
well that is it for me for now!
hope you have played along too!!!
