Joyful Song

it has been a fun evening and thought i would do a quick  posting to show you what i have been doing

i am preparing for an upcoming class in PEI; we are doing Christmas cards and i thought i would throw in a couple of tags. i LOVE making tags and would make really nothing but if only i had someplace to put them all once they were complete. i suppose i could just tack them to a wall and use as wall paper but alas someone may not like it!!!

so tonight as i am preparing i have to remember these are folks who DO NOT SCRAPBOOK! .. i get so very excited thinking of just that..opening their eyes to this wonderful world but remembering all the while i love the messy inky dirty side.. nothing clean here for me!!!

so off i went to A PILE OF SCRAP! my local scrapbook store where i bought a new stamp set in honor of such occasion, the opening of their eyes.. well okay i bought it cause i really really REALLY wanted the ‘cracked glass’ or ‘frosted ice on window’ or however you want to look at it, stamp on the set. that is the only one i really really wanted… it is not my fault that i fell in love with them all!! yes Alissa even the wise man stamp which, well you shall see, is a beautiful stamp.

okay enough rambling on with my excitement over my new stamp set.. here are some pics

for this first one i used a Pearl paint dabber direct on the stamp and stamped my tag. once dry i sprayed first the bottom half with lettuce color wash and the top with red pepper. then used a slightly damp towel and wiped of my stamped image.

for this next one i did the same thing, pearl paint onto stamp on to tag, but this time i took the french ultramarine archival ink and swiped it directly onto the stamp. once happy with the coverage i used my heirloom gold perfect pearls mist and sprayed my tag for some sparkle. once dry i stamped the music notes up the side with cobalt blue archival ink

now onto gloss paper i went. i used aqua, slate, sailboat blue, a touch of silver alcohol inks and covered the tag. i then once again used the same two stamps with black archival ink. simple but love how it turned out

well now i still had a bit of alcohol ink left on my felt so i thought.. hmm why not. so i added a bit of mixative and covered another gloss tag. then for the first time out came my snow cap alcohol ink and amazing results. but then i didn’t want this tag to look like the last time completely so i used the coffee archival ink and stamped the music notes, used a mix of black and plum archival inks on the angel and black on the saying. yet another tag compete. totally a keeper!

and last but not least for my evening of playing with my new stamp set. out came another tag and i used the ‘frosted glass’ stamp and stamped the entire background with pearl paint dabber. once dry i used denim and sailboat blue color wash and sprayed the tag.. wait a couple of seconds and laid a paper towel over to soak up the excess. it was simply stunning.  then i inked up the three wise man with black archival ink and placed that on the tag. i wasn’t quite sure how it would react with the pearl paint and as you can see in the picture it still came through. to me it looks like i am sitting in my chair, looking through a frosted window, and behold… a beautiful site

so which of these will i be teaching…. i am guessing the two using color was as i am totally addicted to that. there is a challenge over at Inspiration Emporium to use our favorite tool. Well my favorite tool at the moment has to be color wash. it is a product that i use on everything from my scrapbook pages, my journal pages, canvases, beach bags, aprons, and now tags.

i hope you enjoyed this ‘quick’  write up. sorry about that. i just was quite excited over my new stamp. it truly has brought me joy this evening.

til next time…

HAPPY SCRAPPING!!!
