Hello and welcome to my portion of the Fiskars “ORANGE BLOG HOP”
you should have arrived here from
who showed you her creative piece and now on to mine
So for mine i wanted to do something a little different. I love my Fiskars Shape Boss and the templates but don’t use them near often enough as i am more into the whole mixed media canvas art creations and i thought ‘wait a minute” why can’t i incorporate these into my art work… and i did.
so first i took out my Victorian template and then covered the whole thing with Gesso.
then set it aside to dry… okay may i used my heat tool a little bit which i am glad i did because it then put in the little cracks.
next came out layers and layers of color wash. love love LOVE this stuff. i sprayed and dried and toweled and spray and dried and toweled..
i then took out the Friskars Frame 1 and placed it on the edge of canvas, mixed a bit of texture paint with color wash and added a frame onto each side of the canvas.. added a couple of dabs of distress picket fence, a couple of hearts and then a bit of weathered wood distress stain. well not all in one step but still this is what it ended with
it was then time to start applying more and more color wash to the canvas as it was way to pale for me
i then mod podge my saying on to the canvas and it totally changed the colours of the back ground so then i mod podged the whole background and set it aside to dry overnight… this is what it came out looking like.
so it wasn’t too badย but it certainly wasn’t what i was going for so then i had to make the decision, do i add a bit more paint to lighten or do i start over. the deadline was looming and i thought well i will start another one so out came the gesso and i created this
it turned out okay but nope.. it still wasn’t what i wanted.
so i worked away and worked away and now this is what i was looking for!!
so it just goes to show you that 1) fiskar stencils are not just for paper and 2) there really is no opps in art

LOVE the end result, and loved watching the process. Thanks for sharing and letting us into your creation beginning to end!
I love them all! Thanks for the shape boss info. I’ve never tried it but think I might have to now.
Great post! I have never tried anything remotely like that so it was very interesting to read about the process.
I have never done anything like that before. It came out fantastic! I don’t even know what Guesso is. Is it like Modge Podge and you buy it in a jar like that? I love the end result.
I think all three of your canvases turned out great! I love your stick-to-it attitude and that you showed the ones you were not really even pleased with. There is a great lesson in that for all of us! Glad to be a follower of your blog!
